NBA Summer League Discussion Thread

I was shocked when I saw that they were charging for organize streetball basically lol. NBA putting hustling for a few extra bucks on another level.
They stream the d-league for free I don't really see the difference

I'm guessing he'll pick it up the second game. Dion is a stud, who's game is tailor made for the NBA. He'll demonstrate that the rest of summer league--no doubt in my mind.

This is his second game, he went 1-11 vs the Lakers on Friday. I still don't think its a big deal especially this year where it seems like no one is shooting well.

Yeah Dion will be fine, no worries there. He has knocked down a few jumpers in the 2nd half and dished off a few nice assist. Donte on the other hand is having a tough time and unfortunately looks far from a NBA caliber player at this point.

In the other game that just ended DNich had 7 points on 2-3 shooting and 3-4 from the line. He also added 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 23 minutes of work.

Much better 2nd half for Dion and outside of the struggles early he had a good game overall. Nice bounce back effort for him.

Box score. Dion-23pts, 4rbs, 4ast and Donte-11 minutes, 5pts, 1board, 1-8 shooting.

Bobcats box score. Triche-14 minutes, 8pts and 1ast. Should have had more than 1 assist if the Bobcats big men could catch the ball.

Bucks box score. DNich-23 minutes, 7pts, 3rbs, 2ast.

Flynn was a DNP for the Clippers.

If I'm an NBA GM and given the choice between Fab & Kelly it's a no brainer if I'm looking at upside.

It's Olynyk in a heartbeat, he's one of those rare seven footers who has an all around game.

Fab Melo can go play for Brazil.

Summaries of their game Thursday
I think people are REALLY going overboard on Olynyk's summer league. It's definitely better to see a guy play well than not, but I think people are really overreaching on what summer league means this year because the draft class was so underwhelming.

Yeah, but as Orangeyes mentioned he is showcasing an all-around game. There isn't much he doesn't do well. He will be solid for a long time, imo.

Plus with the majority of the league going into small ball, it's not like he'll be facing Marc Gasol and Dwight Howard every night.

Totally. I dare say though that he could take those guys off the dribble occasionally and school them. He's had a couple of nice, quick drives off one or two dribbles just inside the three point line in a few games I saw.

Brandon only played seven minutes, but scored four points and had a rebound and an assist. The only bad thing he did today was he had a wide open three in the corner and shot it off the side of the backboard. He quickly rectified it by grabbing the miss and making the shot. He laughed it off and didn't seem to let it bother him too much.

On another note Cody Zeller has really impressed me these past couple days. I expected him to score efficiently, but his rebounding and defense is on par as well even if it is just summer league.

I was surprised how well Oladipo was doing at PG. Very surprised. I always thought of him as more of a Tony Allen type ceiling at the NBA level.

Agree. He handled, shot, and controlled the offense much better than I would have thought.

Amazing what a quality coach can bring out of a player. Good thing this wasn't discovered during his last NCAA game. ;)

I posted the free stream for those who don't have NBA TV like us. You have to subscribe and pay $14.99 at nba.com to watch the games. Summer league ain't worth anybody's $15 bucks.View attachment 4206

I have TW, and the NBA TV channel is pixilating. It's extremely annoying TSTL.

Donte Greene: Already a longshot to make the regular season roster, Greene's performance over the weekend was disastrous: 1-14 shooting, including 0-5 from three. Greene needs to shoot well from the perimeter to have a chance at getting back to the NBA, because he struggles to create offense even against summer league defenders.

Checked out the Clippers game last night to see Jonny but noticed that he wasn't even on the bench. Wonder if he was part of the summer league waiver wire and is playing with somebody else or maybe he's injured. Was rooting hard for him to bounce back in the association, but it seems like he'll just have to pay his dues overseas before getting another serious look from a team.

Flynn topped out when he teabagged Rosario. Down hill slide from there, the only blip being the 6 OT game.
