NBA Thread 2020-21 Season

I give Golden State credit for giving him the 5 year max last offseason after he tore his ACL.
They did right by him but he will be a 38 million dollar role player for the rest of his career you gotta think.
Achilles injuries are the worst a player an NBA player can have because they take explosiveness away.
He wasn’t an explosive type of player but this injury will take 18 months before he is full strength. He will be back playing for before that but will need a long time to become full strength.
Durant will be a good case to see how comes back after all the miles on his knees.

I would have to think though, of all the guys with the game that can withstand this kind of injury, Klay is at the top of the list.

Hope he recovers as fully as possible as quickly as possible.

Haliburton would have been the easy choice for me; to me he was the #2 prospect in the draft. Avdija or Vassell would have been fine too but Haliburton was the best value IMO.

There's no way I am going to catch up on the 15 pages since I last posted, but I would've taken either Halliburton or Vassell at 8 (in that order, I think)

And this Klay injury is just brutal. I always liked him, but for whatever reason i really became a huge fan of his during game 6 of the finals in 2019. Not totally sure why, but i just felt drawn to him. Just awful

You ready for Russell Westbrook now that the Knicks have 40 million in cap space. Most in the league.

I'm sorry what? it says you responded but i dont see any words here no sir nothing at all NO NO NO

He's a James Worthy/Kevin McHale type (not saying he's quite as good as those guys) who could have been an alpha on a lesser team but he would rather be the #2 or #3 on a dynasty.

I wonder what Klay looks like in a different role on a different team. My hunch is he was the perfect player for his role but i dunno for sure. (Draymond is very similar; I'm beginning to think that Warriors team was pretty special...)

So what salary does Milwaukee insert for a Bogadonevic trade?

The most likely scenario here is that Bogdanovic is headed elsewhere, be it Golden State, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, etc.

If you're still entertaining the theory that this is all theatrics so that the Bucks aren't punished for tampering, the only alternatives would be:
  1. Brook Lopez and DJ Wilson (could theoretically include Donte too but that would be a bad move for Milwaukee IMO) for Bogdanovic.
  2. DJ, Donte, and then a sign-and-trade of one of Milwaukee's free agents for Bogdanovic.
But again, waiving Ersan would appear to end the chances that Milwaukee is getting Bogdanovic.

Yeah it begs the question -- does playing with guys like Curry (and Durant) make Klay's output higher because opposing teams have to guard multiple elite offensive players and can't double him as much, or does it make Klay's output lower because he doesn't get the ball as much as he would if he played for like the Knicks.

He could (probably?) score more points in another role, but I think if you remove Steph and Durant from the equation, his weaknesses would shine a lot more brightly. He really doesn't do a whole lot of creating off the dribble. But he's also one of the best shooters in the history of the game

Klay Thompson is the Scottie Pippen of this generation.
He is an all time great but he playing with greatness makes him overrated and underrated.

He could be a lead dog on a contender but it’s probable he couldn’t win a title being the top dog. Like Pippen his greatness does a lot of the dirty work.

Gordon deserves to be happy so if he decides to leave I just hope he does a sign and trade.
The Knicks would be a dumb spot for him but if he chooses to go there then it’s doubtful he will do a sign and trade.
Jaylen Brown and him have had problems. Marcus Smart has defended Hayward is what has been learned.

Brown speaks his mind. Hayward has had tough injury luck in Boston.

Yeah, I'm excited because it's always weirdly entertaining, although since it will all be done remote we'll miss out on the fun extra things like which player has the best looking "date," which player has an unusually attractive mom, which player came in with high hopes and sits for a really long time, how players handle wearing the hat of a team they know they won't play for because they were traded, which players make an attempt at cutting edge fashion and whiff to an incredible degree, the commentators finding new ways to describe players that at best wander into double entendre and at worst are overt dick jokes, which player(s) end up executing an excessively long genitals to genitals hug with Silver when their pick is announced...

I consider it one of the few remaining must-see TV events. Hopefully in the absence of the live weirdness there are some clever remote surprises cooked up.
Btw I thought the broadcast, at least of what I saw, was not good.

And I don't understand how J-Will has maintained a career on tv. Don't get it at all.
