NBA Thread 2021-22 Season

Pelinka should be fired, too. Vogel didn’t put the team together.
Nobody would win with the team we put on the floor. Russ trade was dumb and Davis missed half the games. The hell is Vogel supposed to do with that?

Just make Lebron player coach like Russell was at the end of his career.

No good coach is going to want that job.

I love that Nick Nurse's name is being floated out there. Who in their right mind? Nurse has a great group of people around him, great fanbase, team with reasonable expectations, great group of players. Has a team that listens to him. Insanity

The Lakers are dead in the water. Who takes that Westbrook contract? What young team wants Westbrook around? I think the logic of throwing Westbrook under the bus enough until he takes a buyout is the only option they have. AD is getting older and expecting him to play anymore than 50-55 games is insane as well.

They thought they could get a 5-6 seed and get healthy prior to playoffs and make a run, didn't work

I know it sounds ridiculous because he's put up some great numbers, but Davis has not lived up to the franchise cornerstone hype he had coming out of Kentucky. He's played 70 games just twice in 10 years and for whatever reason his shooting has cratered the past 2 seasons.

Directly from the story that started this whole thing.
Basically a non-story... it seems anyway. But who knows if $$$$$ is involved.

"They’re [Toronto] not going to let him go. But it makes him look better and Klutch look better if they are asking for him, right? So yeah, I would not be surprised to see the Lakers ask about him but more as a favor to Klutch. Maybe they won’t because he is so far out of reach. But, you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours, that is how things work.”

yeah I'd say it basically comes down to he's been more brittle than you'd like? (Though really, when looking at it, it isn't quite as bad as I thought. But it's gotten worse the last few years)

He's made first team all NBA 4x, he was amazing in the title run. But certainly if you're talking elite b ig men right now he is behind embiid and jokic

I was mostly thinking pure 5's for whatever reason. (I know he isn't a pure 5). Obviously he's worse than Giannis. KAT? Not sure who I would rather have tbh, KAT is incredible on offense but he still limits you defensively a lot. Gobert; I would clearly take AD. AD or Toppin? Tough call.

So based on your reasoning you would take Toppin over Gobert? Please explain, I must be missing something. Gobert is 6th in the NBA in efficiency and Obi (who I do like and hope he has a great future) is 159th.

Looks like Jokic is running away with MVP. Other races are more competitive but seems like Scottie Barnes will likely win ROY and Marcus Smart is in the drivers seat for DPOY.

Also looking like Embiid will end up 2nd Team All NBA

He's not a #1 player on a team that's for sure. he certainly can't be the face of a franchise nor a leader on a team. Was glad to see him leave New Orleans. Tremendous talent but not durable nor does he posses true leadership skills. Pels fans loved Jrue Holiday when he was there because he embraced the City and its fans. AD never did even before he forced his way out. Brandon Ingram is now loved in New Orleans for the same reasons that Holiday was and McCollum has quickly followed that path as well in 2 months ( all 3 rooks as well) and that's more than I can say about another #1 draft pick who has been rather spotty with his game action.

My problems begin and end with how many games he misses.

“Leadership” is just something people complain about with star players when the team isn’t doing good enough. IMO.

He’s a top 5 player in the league….when healthy. That health has just been a mess the last two years though.

If he’s going to stay in LA, I can only hope a long offseason will help him, and that his body breaking down was due to the insane schedule the Lakers faced going back to playing in the bubble from July-October and then starting a new season in December. Then having another short offseason before this season.
