NBA Thread 2021-22 Season

I can't really speak to the Wolves/Grizz game, but Dallas was literally intentionally fouling Gobert all night to put him on the FT line. Kinda likewise with Valanciunas in the Pelicans game, but just in general, New Orleans was just really taking it to Phoenix last night. That is kinda interesting though.

They were waiting for Ayton to sub out and then JV was just pounding McGee when they did. Great call by Willie Green. Huge game 5. Suns better win as I don't think they will survive if they comeback to New Orleans down 3-2. This Pelicans teams has been really pretty good since the All Star break once they got comfortable with CJ in the rotation and Ingram has been great in the post season

Mavs had eight more fouls than the Jazz but Utah shot 19 more FT's. Dallas wasn't real aggressive going to the hoop (44 of 77 shots were 3 point attempts) so not a lot of opportunities. Gobert had a lot of offensive rebounds and Dallas was playing Hack-a-Rudy who had 18 FT's. The more aggressive team is generally always going to have more free throws.

Watching these playoffs makes me want to fight every old that says the NBA doesn't play defense.

I don't know how anyone can watch these playoffs and think that, still.

And the thing is, teams will just continually put a bad defender in a blender and target him over and over again.

Also, with how much NBA teams are varying m2m and even using zone, it's not only your on ball skills, but man do you have to know how to defend in a system whether its a team that switches 90% of the time, PnR Ds that go drop defense to take away any action at the rim, etc etc.

I have no issue with Jokic as MVP, but it's why I still will go with Giannis as the best player in the league right now. You can switch him onto anyone and it doesn't matter on D. He's a beast and he would be a beast in any era.

Those guys in previous eras never had to cover as much ground as they do now. It's not even close. It'd be like if the NFL widened the field by like 10 yards on each side.

In fairness the Jazz perimeter guys don't play any d heyyyyooooooooo

Looks like he's getting Game 4 of the Celtics and Nets instead.
Why do they need him to extend that series? The Nets have quit. His "talents" would be better suited elsewhere.

Playoff Wins for Goran "I have Higher Ambitions than playing in Toronto" Dragic of the Brooklyn Nets - 0
Playoff Wins for Toronto - 2 (and still alive)

Embiid finding someone else to point fingers at already.. This Sixers team is totally flustered right now, now that the series is 3-2 (from 3-0 earlier). I wish I had bet on the Raptors at +1700 to win the series before tonight

Daniel Theis looks like he would play a local hoodlum in a movie that takes place in Boston. Like he would be part of Mark Wahlberg or Ben Affleck's crew and have an annoying over-the-top Mass accent.

He’s basically a much larger version of Jeremy Renner’s character from The Town.

Joel “got hurt again” Embiid

I have my sympathy for Joel having to deal with Simmons, but at some point Joel, and his very long injury history, has to own some of these results.

I’m reminded of this:

If you run into a jerk in the morning, you ran into an jerk. If you run into jerks all day, you're the jerk.

Looking at you, Joel
