NCAA sued

This is why they need anti-trust exemption.
A lot of other changes need to happen but there is zero enforcement ability now with constant lawsuits.

is that kind of like a beauty school drop out?!

Alabama and others that play G league players (who played and had contracts) should end up forfeiting those games, in my opinion.

There is not anything even remotely "student" about those athletes.

what's next. a kid plays hs for 2 yrs drops out and then wants to play when he is 30 to win a state title.

I don't know about HS... but with respect to the NCAA.
Apparently the one thing the NCAA has won in recent court rulings, based on what I heard in a podcast. is the "Eligibility Window" which starts when you first play in college... which was at 5 years for the Covid period athletes, and now back to 4. So that does limit some of the potential ridiculousness (of course it may challenged too).

In the case of Bediako he left after the 22/23 season... his window ends at the end of the 2025/2026 season. So in his case he can only come back this year.

Honestly if the whole transfer thing was more under control and players were at the same school the whole time, that 4 year period window wouldn't kill me (even if I'm not in favour) -- in essence it becomes a minor league option for the player where he goes back to his old school... but the transfer portal wrecks even that.

The NBA doesn't care about things like Nnaji, but the Bediako case does scare them. They would have to find a way to restructure the draft.

Every freshman that knows they would not get drafted, would declare for the NBA draft after their freshmen year. They are then declared undrafted NBA free agents. Under the Bediako rule, they would then still be allowed to come back to school, and if they bloom later in their college careers once they make the jump to the NBA they are free agents.

Think of late bloomers like Jaylin Williams or Cedric Coward. Or going back in time, Dion Waiters at Syracuse after his frosh year.
