So I guess every top 5 recruit is just guaranteed to Kentucky. Every team in the nation should just concede this sad fact. Bla bla bla. We have as good of a chance as UK for Noel, maybe even better with the relationships we have made. I keep forgetting it was Kentucky who landed Carmelo Anthony and won the Nat'l Championship with him, silly me.The logical move is Kentucky. Cal has the best better track record of preparing 5 star freshmen for the league.
Their whole program is geared toward one and done's.
Trivia Question: Name me all the one and done UK players in the NBA that are better than Carmelo Anthony?
Right. Because if Tyreke Evans, John Wall, Derrick Rose or Brandon Knight came here they'd be horrible in the NBA right now.The logical move is Kentucky. Cal has the best better track record of preparing 5 star freshmen for the league.

memphis has derrick rose... he up there.Trivia Question: Name me all the one and done UK players in the NBA that are better than Carmelo Anthony?
Really, nobody around him? I don't think you are going to win a battle of matchup the players us vs. them unless they wiff on both of their remaining 2012 targets.
Returning:
Kyle Wiltjer 6'9" Freshman - was a 2011 5 star recruit
They have 2012 commits from:
Alex Poythress a 6'8" 5 star PF (19th player overall according to rivals)
Willie Cauley 7'0" 4 star C (6th rated center)
and they are still in the hunt for:
Anthony Bennett 6'8" PF 5 Star (7th overall player)
Shabazz Muhammad 6'6" SF 5 Star (#1 overall player)
He hasn't gone to PC or UK yet. I'd be surprised if he already knew.
I think an interesting point is that he's a New England kid. Kentucky is totally different; the people, food, culture, etc. Wonder if that will affect his thought process.
I thought the same exact thing.Well if he's announcing in 3 weeks, it's awfully likely that he has already made up his mind, barring unforeseen changes on his upcoming visits. Otherwise, why state an artificial time frame at all ? Why not say, I'm making up my mind when my mind is made up.
Your logic is impeccable. Carmello could have played for a nunnery and he'd still be the best.Trivia Question: Name me all the one and done UK players in the NBA that are better than Carmelo Anthony?

Here's a question for you: How many 1st round NBA drft picks did SU and UK have in the past 2 years.
I'll save you the time, it was 0 and 7, respectively.
HofFCJB builds teams. Calimari has an annual show with different actors each year. I prefer JB's approach.
I don't get the "going to UK will make you a higher pick" or "Calipari develops one and dones" theories. Did Rick Barnes make Kevin Durant? Rose, Evans, Wall, Knight would have all been top 5 picks out of HS. They'd be top 5 picks if they played at Mizzou, DePaul, Washington State. Why do some people think Cal turns marginal 4-star players into lottery picks? He doesn't. He's consistently given 3x the amount of talent as other top schools and plays the numbers game. If I coach Columbia next season and get Noel, Shabazz, Ashley, and Poythress, then 3 of them are lottery picks, am I the greatest developer of talent?
Right. Because if Tyreke Evans, John Wall, Derrick Rose or Brandon Knight came here they'd be horrible in the NBA right now.
JB does not usually go after for sure one-and-done's, but that doesn't mean he can't prepare them for the league. Noel could go to UK, Cuse, PC or Colgate and still be a top 3 pick when he declares for the NBA.
Exactly. No worries about that pesky senior in front of you who's paid his dues.I think it is more perception than anything else. (Though I would disagree he is "given" the talent). But also worth mentioning that there is usually a lot of playing time available for his awesome freshmen. We have 2 McDonalds AA who aren;t getting much run this year. (Granted they aren't as good as Anthony Davis, of course).
Anthony Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist would start here and get 30 mpg.I think it is more perception than anything else. (Though I would disagree he is "given" the talent). Also to be fair, I must say that JB did not "develop" Carmelo. Melo was ready to play in the NBA when he was at Towson Catholic.
Agreed, see my previous post. And to be fair none of Cal's one and dones were "developed" at UK. I could have coached them and they still would've been 1st rounders.
Speaking of SU and Kentucky, if we do happen to face off in a final, I think we're the team (outside Lexington) that every hoops fan in the world roots for. No mega stars, just a team that is more than the sum of it's parts.
You could at least get the answer to your question correct. Assuming you are talking about 2010 and 2011 we had one. Wes Johnson.
Assuming you are talking about 2010 and 2011 we had one. Wes Johnson. Kentucky had 6. I would not count Enes Kanter in their column...he never played at Kentucky.
Although, I don't necessarily disagree with your point.
This is my point. Enes Kanter should count as much any of the others. Why is there this mythology that it is the program or the coach that is turning these guys into NBA draft picks. Carmelo would have been a lottery pick no matter which upper-half of D1 program he went to. Same with Durant, Rose, Wall, etc. Syracuse or Kentucky or anyone else is not turning those guys into NBA players. They were NBA players from birth. Kanter is the perfect example. Never played a second at Kentucky and is now in the NBA. It has nothing to do with the coach.
