New Assistant: Brenden Straughn [Now confirmed]

I think Mr. Samurai Hoops is talking about Justin Moore and if that it the case I’d think Red plans on playing a good amount of three guard lineups like plenty of teams at the top of the sport do
Man Moore would delight the hell out of me. I will say I would think that comes at the expense of maybe losing Taylor or Cope to the portal. But if we brought in Moore that’s instant leadership, a go to guy, would elevate our team next year tremendously.

Taylor is a TTO Guy i thought

Downside of our current roster with a 3 guard lineup is I don't think anyone of our forwards can be the 4 in that situation. Maybe Brown but he isn't physical enough. If Jesse comes back we need a physical presense down low and someone to do the dirty work and that isn't Jesse.

The highest profile player at a position of need is Hunter Dickinson. Dickinson is 7-1 255 and averaged 18 and 9. He immediately changes the team.

None of the guards really make sense with Starling and Mintz. I can only see a guard if Mintz is out. But then it's got to be a point guard. Jahmir Young would fit.

Now you’ve taken this conversation way too far…..

Best high major Team Takeover guy in the portal right now is Myles Stute from Vanderbilt

Most college teams, just like the NBA put on the floor 3 guards and 2 forwards, or 3 guards, a forward and a shooting center. The emphasis has been on guys who can shoot and/or create. We have been getting killed by sticking with the old fashioned format along with playing the zone against teams with 3 or more shooters on the floor. I'm excited for a new change. A traditional center is only needed in rare situations. If Jesse leaves, a solid good sized power forward from the portal who can also play center if needed will do.
Joel Soriano has an excellent shooting stroke for a traditionally sizedbig man. He would be my number one choice. But if Pitino gets the St. John’s job, I doubt he will let him leave.

As an alternative Quentin Post from BC or Ryan Young from Duke makes a lot of sense as a Jesse replacement.

What would be the rebounding plan, just wing it ?

A small 3 guard lineup would be a 1 year plan anyways (as Moore and Mintz are gone after next season) so there's not much to lose. But the top teams with 3 guard lineups are running big guards. UCLA lists 3 guards yet they go 6-5, 6-5 and 6-6. Kansas' lists 3 guards and two go 6-8 and 6-6.

It'd fly for next year but we'd still take a lot of lumps getting hammered on the inside and on the boards.

Might be Bishop of GW

High major, not high profile

what's considered high major ? the player or the school? Is Nova high major? I always considered it to be Power 5.

High profile is a big name player. I'd say Dickinson or Moore. Dickinson I'd be more hopeful for.

He averaged double-figure rebounds.

This program has never had a rebounding plan. In fact, Syracuse has made an effort to avoid defensive rebounds at all costs

Wasn’t Young already a grad transfer?

Not true. The team has usually had good rebounding forwards and centers.
