New DC ideas

I never disliked him tbh. I was joking above but I never got the hatred of him like others here

Because he’s a cigar kind of guy and I’m not. Although I like Bill and he was handy with cigars too but I’m not aware of him smoking them in public spaces like Shafer.

OK. But take the 4 years that Dino has been here versus the four years that Shafer was Marrone's DC and which was better?

So being better than Ward makes one good? Shafer as DC gave up over 4 score (32 points) 32% of his games. He also gave up less than 3 score (24 points) 48% of his games. He either hit a home run or struck out. There was like consistency. People though are only remembering 1/2 our games while forgetting 1/3.

It's going to be Stanard.

They need to get rid of another 1-2 coaches and pay up for hired guns on the recruiting trail.

Let's hope not. Stanard's record as DC hasn't been that impressive, not a smart move by DB IMO if this is what happens. These numbers don't get me overly excited and not any different then what we just fired.

Wyoming DC: 2014 - 2016 --> Total defense vs P5 schools
2014 - #95
2015 - #78
2016 - #103

Tulane DC: 2009 - 2011--> Total defense vs P5 schools
2009 - #98
2010 - #80
2011 - #76

Gotta stop using total defense as a stat, it doesn't show the whole picture. Especially since I think both schools were up tempo.

You forgot a stat. He was let go from Wyoming where there was very little pressure to do so.

I like Norwood. Wouldn't be the first guy to have a career re-energized after being exposed to different ideas/philosophies and his time with Navy is exactly that.

Norwood is Dino's Bullough.
This strikes me as a lazy comparison. Dino didn't immediately name Norwood as a DC when he became head coach. This would be a hiring after Norwood has learned something new from his time at Navy, like Dino became a different coach after his time with Briles. If there's a better candidate, I'll like him, too, but to dismiss Norwood because he has a history with Dino seems presumptuous.

It was an incredibly lazy comparison. The kind I think about for five seconds and then post to try and get a couple of laughs. Not exactly venn diagraming this crap.

No idea if he would be able to complement Dino's style of play on the offensive side, but it would be comedic gold for him to turn down RU, come here, and sign a few Jersey kids.

Any attractive DC’s out there who could bring some of their own recruits with them? Similar to hop at Washington? The names that were tossed around as likely options didn’t really move the needle. This is going to be a 10-year rebuild if we can’t get an instant shot in the arm someplace.

i just hope its someone who knows more about Jersey Diners than Texas BBQ joints.

The Navy DC with ties to Dino is doing an excellent job. Another coach that i hear good things about is Ola Adams from Villanova.

Former Rutgers Head Coach Greg Schiano was seeking $4 million a year and a number of perks and conditions to return to the Scarlet Knights.

The list of demands included a $4 million-a-year salary over eight years, a $25.2 million guarantee on Day 1 of his contract and unlimited use of a private jet.

Next time, before you start another thread on the same topic, try and search to see if there isn't already one started.

I scrolled 3 pages for the Brian Ward thread and then decided it was not exactly Brian Ward related.

Sorry, I was guilty as well. I am both excited and terrified (as much as I can be about sports) over this hiring.
