New Starting QB on Friday?

Indeed, and Fran is a developer. When you've got a hammer you look for nails.

Clearly not panning out with Rickie and maybe nobody else on this year's roster. But guys like Josh Allen and Tom Brady were underrated and needed and got development. Even somebody like Lamar Jackson was 'only' a 4-star and within Fran's recruiting envelope.

This year is discouraging AF but I'm not over the staff on it. Roll the dice, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Don’t forget McNabb a 3 star

Comical...people were trying to talk themselves into Carney being the man. He's from Texas - he must be good! His one snap against Colgate really showed me something! He has "it!"

Now you're trying to talk yourselves into Filardi coming out of the blue and becoming the man. NY player of the year! Great mechanics! He has the "intangibles!"

I expect more lousy QB play and an offense that is mostly inept. Hopefully I'm wrong and this isn't just a way to generate some buzz about a game most couldn't care less about otherwise.

Whats the saying, the backup, backup, backup QB is the most popular player on a team? People are just looking for a glimmer of hope and the bar is so low right now that Rickie getting less snaps is that glimmer.

I don’t think anyone who’s reasonable thinks Carney or Filardi will be world beaters right away. We just know Rickie isn’t and just want to see if one of these guys can be functional because that would be a major upgrade.

I'd be fine with well less than functional even. Most of us just want to stop trying what we already know doesn't work. The whole 'fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me' thing.

Rickie has 'fooled' Fran 4 times now? It's football. Next man up.

I just want someone who can actually call the plays and run the play halfway decent. Don't throw the ball 10 yards behind the receiver or to the others teams DB.

Half Hollow Hills East is Class A for those interested. They were 9-2 last year, ranked #7 in the State for Class A and he threw for about 3,200 yards.
He threw for 6452 yards in his two year HS career. 87 passing TDs.

Ran for 2221 yards and 25 TDs. Averaged 11.3 ypc.

If nothing else, if he plays, he will be interesting to watch.

I’m still high on Luke Carney. He had extensive experience running an aggressive offense (4 year starter, right, as I believe Filardi was). Both may be a little undersized but with capable arms. Will be a tough go against an all time great defensive schemer, but time to let them grow.

They will be ready so will Rickie if he is called upon.

Exactly. They don't need to be a serious threat to unseat Angeli next year - they just need to be adequate enough to beat NC and BC. That's the bar. And maybe, just maybe, one of them can show out enough to be a reliable fallback in case Angeli's recovery is not on schedule.

But, no we can't run with that storyline. It's too boring. Instead we have a bunch of lunatic fans here that expect the second coming of Joe Montana and Flutie's love child.
