New York Football Giants 2017 Title Quest Thread

He basically has:

Roger Lewis has now made plays and 2 guys off the STREET have too.

But they can’t do it all game every game. There has to be some NFLers on offense, right now there is Eli, Flowers, maybe Jones and Engram...who’s dropping everyfluckingthing.

I don't think Eli is done. He's been operating with a JV crew. It's amazing he's still standing upright.

Bottom line is how you (the general you) feel about Darnold and Rosen. If you think they are franchise QBs, you have to take one. If not, you trade down and fix the line and tell McAdoo he has to produce.

But people shouldn't knock eli. The guys he's throwing to, outside of Engram who is a rookie, are guys that should be on practice squads. Our OL isn't even adequate. Our RBs are a far cry from elite.

The Eli hate from NFL fans has always been weird to me. Seems oddly personal, but the guy hasn’t done or said anything remotely controversial since he got in the league.

Yeah. It's odd. He was even half decent when he was on SNL!

He's got us two SB rings. Haters can hate.

No doubt the NYG OL is horrible and Eli's weapons are very limited. But an objective read of his performance last night would state that he stunk. Several poorly thrown balls that competent NFL QBs make all of the time.

That was just the combination of onion breath and cheez whiz emanating out of the pores of the nearby sweat hog Eagles fans.

These days that's about all it takes to get Eli to put one up for grabs. ;)

If the NYG have a chance to draft a very good QB in April then they would be out of their minds to pass up that opportunity. Better to move on from Eli a year early than a year late.

Name 1.

Name 1.

Where to begin? The pick he threw into triple coverage with a minute plus left was just thrown up for grabs. A little bit earlier in the 4th he had a third and short and he threw to a back who was wide open but the ball came out wobbly and nose dived into the dirt.

Listen I get your defending your boy but he wasn’t good last night.

He missed throws. I mean the offense scored 3 points and had pretty good field position pretty much the first 3 quarters.

One good drive and the giants could have put Cousins on tilt.
Gruden’s first instinct was to punt on the NYG 40 because he wasn’t afraid of the Giants offense.

I agree with that. But this isn't on Eli. He throws a lot of passes that are just dropped.

I agree there are plenty of other concerns. But late in a QB's career when it starts to go it goes quickly. The signs are there imo. NYG need to stay ahead of that curve.

Nobody cares about the jump ball pick when the game was lost.

The pass to Vereen was a timing play where Vereen admitted to getting off slow, going to a bad spot and then not finding the ball in time. Said it was his fault.

Please, this is nonsense.

that is a flat out lie.

Look at the tape.

Cmon your offense scores 3 points.
Eli’s QBR was 6.3
His QB rating was 44.2
13 for 27 for 113 yards.
That is bad even with the 3 drops.
9 3 and outs including the last 7 possessions of the game.
The surrounding cast isn’t responsible for 7 consecutive 3 play drives.

If Eli is the QB next year then stop putting him out there for a beating with inferior talent. If it’s the cast around him don’t risk him.

3 drops by Engram, another 3-4 by the guys who won’t be in the league next year.

Rating never matters to future HOF lock Eli, he’d rather throw it in the 3rd row or up for grabs when it’s over...hoping for the best, than take a sack and have it end that way.

9 3 and outs and only 27 attempts. Clearly, they were still trying to run.

U play to win the game, we don’t want to see Geno.

And we all saw what happened n Buffalo when you throw an unprepared guy out there.

No thank you, it’s Eli.

It’s also his next year.

after that...we’ll see.

That's BS. He was wide open and Manning threw him an ankle dart. Look at the trajectory of the throw, it looked like Joe Kapp threw it.

Some times the ones closest to the scene are the last to know. Manning has been on balance very average over the last 3-4 years. I get that Manning haters are over the top but the Manning defenders are a little loopy too. Every bad performance is somebody else's fault. Sorry but "elite" QBs are supposed to rise above circumstances and get the job done.

The low throw is a different play, which also could’ve been caught.

Maybe we're talking about different plays but the low throw I recollect was a third down throw to a back. It was a brutal throw, came out of his hands awful and Jerry Rice in his prime would not have been able to haul it in.

Nobody was open. Because nobody could get over the top. No downfield threat whatsoever makes it easy to defend a team unless they can run the ball.

Oh, their best underneath threat Engram (who is usually pretty good) kept dropping the ball.

You can post Eli’s stats from the game all you want, but I’m still not sure what he’s supposed to do? There was nothing there.

This is flat out untrue. 2015 was the best season he ever had, statistically. He threw for 4,400 yards, 35 TDs and 14 INTs. 2014 and 2016 were solid years too. Last year the offense was often a struggle because all we had was Beckham to throw to.

2013 was his bad year, and a year like right now where they had zero weapons or line.

To me it's kind of a mixed bag. In the four years you reference Eli had 103 turnovers and his team was below .500 in three of those four years. Turnovers are a big deal. The one year they were over .500 it seemed the defense was the more dominant factor. I'd compromise with you and say he's above average but nowhere near elite.

In 2015, the Giants had maybe the worst defense they’ve ever had and it blew about 5-6 leads at the end of games. We’re not pinning W/L records on the QB like a pitcher in baseball now are we? We certainly can’t give the Giants defense the credit for 2016’s record and then blame Eli for 2015’s record. Gotta be consistent. Eli was even better in 2015. They didn’t win because the D was horrid.

I never said “elite” and I really don’t care about that for this discussion...point is he’s been one of the few guys consistently doing his job on the team. He can do his job even better when others do there’s.

I was talking about four years not just 2015. He turns the ball over A LOT which you and his defenders kinda breeze past like it's no big deal. That's how you lose football games. NYG are 32-43 since the beginning of the 2013 season yet somehow none of the losses are ever Eli's fault.

Defense was horrid from 2013-2015, OL was horrid from 2013-2017, running game was horrid from 2013-2017, receivers were horrid in 2013 and 2017(due to injury).
