New York Football Giants 2017 Title Quest Thread

Yeah, both you and Mike have really good points about taking a franchise QB is one is available.

I guess I am just not sold on either Rosen or Darnold - especially Darnold...I've seen USC several times this year and the guy forces a ton of throws...

How do they compare pre-draft to Eli?

I actually like Darnold more than Rosen. However, he does force throws. They say he does it because he is hyper-competitive and thinks he can make them. He has a slight hitch in his motion, but he's also young, comparatively, (he's only 20).

To the point that KaiserUEO made, Rosen in NYC is a bit scary. If Eli had Rosen's personality, he never would have made it (imo). However, when you watch Rosen, it looks like he was born to throw a football.

I'd take either. I just think that Darnold has a bit more upside and the way he channels his moxy is better-suited for NYC and the pressure with being the Giants QB. What is scary is if Darnold holds off on entering the draft early, which is a legit thing. That means Rosen is really the only QB that's worth a top 3 pick.

Josh Allen is compared to John Elway in terms of skill.
I think he goes top 5.

Allen is going to explode during the draft process.

Alsacs, I love your postings, but no one should be compared to John Elway.

John Elway is one of the all-time elite athletes and is arguably the highest rated NFL prospect of all time coming out of college.

I agree but Elway wasn’t successful in college.
I don’t think Allen is Elway.
I was going off this.
He was compared to him here
Why NFL teams might be better off waiting until 2018 to find their next franchise QB

The arm strength is where they compare Allen to Elway.

Hope it’s a big class and everyone comes out.

The Giants should draft a QB, keep Eli and Webb look for OL help and D.

The new coach can still try to make a run with Eli, keeps the vets happy...but if Eli gets hurt or it goes like this year...

If the Jaguars would give the Giants a pick in the 20s for Eli I think they have to strongly consider it.
Eli would trust Coughlin and Eli would avoid a QB room where his successor clearly was there.
Or it could work like it did for Brady.
Belichick drafted Garrapolo in the 2nd round because he saw his age and didn’t think he would be this good still.

Either way I do think with this year’s QB crop the Giants have to take one unless Webb is legit.

Darnold???

Rosen???

Nope.

Eli at least 2 more years.

Draft an OT or a DE or please trade down just a bit, for more picks.

Egads!!!...

Agree to disagree.

Rosen is playing with a JV team. That kid doesn't make a throw where his mechanics are bad.

Darnold is more athletic and not scared to make any throw. He's also really young.

Eli, in college, didn't have great stats. 34 INTs in the three years he played most snaps.

I am telling you, over reach for OL is what's going to mess up the top ten this year. We cannot pass on Rosen or Darnold. We'll never have a draft pick this high again for the foreseeable future.

In two years, who are we getting? Shea Patterson? Jalen Hurts? Kelly Bryant?

The NFL is a copycat league. teams see the success of Wentz, Goff, Watson and maybe even Trubisky and think we gotta take a crack at a QB too. I think that's what the NYG will do. Keep Eli around for another year while the new guy learns. They could trade Eli but no way in hell are they getting a #1 pick. NFL teams rarely trade #1s for established players and certainly not for 38 yo QBs.

You can't be happy they won, not saying they should tank, it would be better for them if they lost.
I am ecstatic they won. I don't care if losing would have gotten them Steve Young incarnate. I have never and will never root for one of my teams to lose. And that includes our GRob teams when continued losing may have guaranteed an earlier departure.

I'm not saying root against them during the game, but this win did nothing at all to help the Giants.

They won. I'm happy. Again, as DW said, at 3 or 4, if they decide to go QB, someone should be there.

Giants will still be in a position to win.
The program needed a win after all the turmoil they had been through.

Now you really only root against your team in a meaningless week 17 game.

I was actually rooting for the Giants today, was starting to get scared they had a chance to get one of the qbs.
