NFL Thread - 2020

That’s a big thing to be shy of.
most certainly, but its the truth.

Goliath, played in a field of dandelions instead of being challenged every Sept- Dec.

The destruction that 2 guaranteed division losses each year can inflict on a franchise is extremely extremely large.

The Alsacs doth protest too much.

7 times has the AFC East runner up claimed a Wild Card berth since 2002.

3 of those 7 have been since 2016 (Dolphins & Bills finally rejoined the post season party).

No need to go back to the early 90s...

NFC East has claimed the WC 11 times in the same period with 2nd & 3rd place teams sweeping both WC spots in 2006 & 2007.

And three SB titles in 13 years. ;)

exactly.

most teams go 10-6, maybe 11-5, hell ill give you 12-4 for the elite.

if said team is 6-0 in division, then adding 2 losses makes them 8-8. 9-7 or 10-6.

Welcome to the NFC East.

You can’t just add the 2 losses.

Alsacs did the homework on this a while back and showed that that Pats owned every division in the NFL over that timespan. Hopefully he has that info on queue somewhere.

It’s a myth the AFC East was the Patriots and nobodies.
Patriots struggled with the Jets and Dolphins during the Brady Era compared to other teams.

The Giants, Panthers, Ravens and Broncos were the only teams that did better against New England than Miami and New York.

Buffalo couldn’t beat New England that much but the other 2 division teams did okay.

Being the AFC east cost those teams a chance to have home playoff games.

The NFC East has been up and down.

The worst division since 2002 has been the NFC North.
People crap on the AFC East but the Packers have dominated the North. The Bears haven’t had a real offense forever.
The Vikings don’t win much.
The Lions are the Lions.

The AFC South hasn’t done much either.

He put that together to demonstrate that the Patsies’ dynasty wasn’t materially aided by slapping around the AFC East every year.

NE dominating the rest of the NFL doesn’t disprove that the other three AFC East clubs were mostly awful for 15 years.

Patriots record in the Brady Era

AFC212- 760.736
NFC71- 230.755

By division

W - L
AFC South41 - 140.774
NFC South17 - 50.773
NFC East22- 60.785
AFC East95 - 320.748
AFC North36- 120.745
NFC North17 - 60.739
NFC West15 - 60.714
AFC West34 - 180.653

Broncos were 9-10 against Brady that is why the AFC West is the worst.
The Giants are half of the losses to NFC East teams. Cowboys never beat NE with Brady. Washington beat them once.

The point is NE being in the AFCE hurt Buffalo, Ny Jets and Miami a lot.
If you put NE in the AFC North they do just as well and the other East teams would have a better chance.

I mean 4 games with Cincinnati and Cleveland countered with 2 games with one of Baltimore/Pittsburgh.

They dominated Pittsburgh with Brady and won a lot more than they lost to Baltimore.

Patriots: get on a plane and play same day
Broncos: call up a receiver to play QB
Ravens: When would you guys like to play?

The Ravens organization never gets hammered. They have broken the rules numerous times as well.

how about the Titans? That’s the biggest joke of them all.

Does Doug Pederson know how to count?
Pederson doesn’t make those decisions.
He has analytics people in the booth telling him what to do in those situations.
The problem is those geeks don’t get Carson Wentz is playing QB.

I'm not sure what any of us would do without your football expertise.
