On TV they did a segment on the new helmet and said the players participated in the design and wanted something fresh that paid homage to tradition. The reporter gave kudos to the players. The ACC announcers then said that traveling around the league this season players at every school are talking about new uniforms and helmets. It's a hot topic. If they can put up 50 points each week they can wear blue and orange combos all year long.

I know, and I don't care. I guess I'd rather be in the Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Alabama, FSU, Texas tradition camp than the Oregon, Virginia Tech Johnny Come lately, gimmick crap.

even Michigan and Ohio St have switched theirs up. It would be nice if we were an established heavyweight, but I think we have to do whatever necessary to give ourselves exposure with recruits. It's just as much perception as style

I don't have a problem with the helmet if the uni was different, because blue is just dumb.

Don't wear another schools color and uni. Go all black if you want.

Agreed. Just thought it was an interesting quote. More games like this combined with uni's kids get excited about and I bet recruiting gets easier, IMO.

It beats Georgetown grey (puke) but barely. I'm (barely) OK with it as an alternate, but if this is our weekly jersey, I am going to flip. I want to orange helmet, blue shirt, and orange pants. That looks good. There's no ned to change. ND, Bama, Michigan, PSU, OSU... don't change with dumb trends. We need to stop.

*I am fully aware of ND's alternate jersey last year, but it was a one game thing, not a perm deal.

Well nds unis have changed over the years. They use a completely diff gold now

I don't get the last statement, if other colors (aka blue) isn't acceptable, why is all black ok?


Frankly, I want an orange top, and possibly pants with orange at the top that fades back into our blue. That would be pretty cool. But it's all coming eventually we aren't done with the tweaks yet.

New stuff excites people and recruits, if nothing else it gets people talking. Seriously how many threads have we had on uniforms here on our board since two weeks ago when info came out that we would switch it up at the dome?

You guys are constantly pissed that the crowd isn't big enough, one way to increase crowd size is to get people talking about the team. Great play is one way, new uniforms is another. The last two weeks we've had both. With the interest/intrigue about another possible jersey tweak for Clemson and 2 weeks to speculate, it will help create more buzz.

These changes are what the kids want and the top programs use to attract recruits... Thats what matters

I agree...admittedly I'm more of a traditionalist and if I had my way we'd go to the McNabb era unis...but I still like these and like I said...our kids helped design them and recruits will love em.

O and also theyre alternates.

We don't have that type of national brand. We need anything and everything to help us out in the "arms war" of college football recruiting. If we'd have the success like these schools I would agree with you. But we should not hold back and use the Nike connection.

Cripes, I thought yesterday's alternate uniform looked cool, but when they panned out there was zero orange to be seen, even on high def. Zero.
