I feel like we have been talking about the same thing for the last 10 pages. Groundhog Day
You’re making up terms. Im not going to go through every college donor. Hell I didn’t even really know the Johnnie’s guys name.
Don’t you think it is fair to say if a donor wanted to give money to a school, most institutions would figure it out? Are there some they may turn said donor away……yes I believe so, but I also think there are some that would stroke said ego.
Other than donating outside NIL collective what is this special treatment?
If you don’t know for a fact you statement is redundant.
Just so you are clear, I don’t agree that it should be outside the collective if SU doesn’t want it that way but you or I don’t know why he would prefer it. Maybe it’s better tax wise or any number of random things
Of course there is more to the story. Only one party has been talking. Not ignoring them. In fact I haven’t disputed anything you said.
1 There have been opinions that are thrown around like facts
2 I feel there is more to the story. Just my opinion
Good lord.I am not making up anything though. You said other schools have figured it out, I just asked for a concrete example of this.
Adam has said that he wants to be the face of securing our recruits and does not wish to donate to a collective. I just asked for one example of another school operating this way with a mega donor.
Even if outside the collective is the only special treatment, it should be very easy for someone who has posted this much in support of repairing this relationship to find an example of this being done.
Of courseOf course there is more to the story. Only one party has been talking.
Hmmm...At the end of a movie, there isn't an address on the screen for you to send extra $$$ to Meryl Streep so that the studio can hire her again. When you see a concert, you pay your hundred bucks or whatever and that's it. Springsteen doesn't come out at the end and ask for more money to pay Roy so that he doesn't hit the portal and join Neil Young's band. And if he DOES portal to Neil, well Bruce needs you to pony up so that he can attract a good piano player. Nope, that's not how it works but for whatever reason college sports now works that way. Sure, guys always got paid. But not like this, and not via demands of the fanbase to foot the bill.
Ok. You literally spelled out in a post that you would feel this way no matter what the donors name was and that you would want to bring them into the fold even if it meant that they got some unspecified special treatment.Good lord.
The first part of paragraph 3 is juvenile.Ok. You literally spelled out in a post that you would feel this way no matter what the donors name was and that you would want to bring them into the fold even if it meant that they got some unspecified special treatment.
The point is we aren’t discussing any other donors because none are asking to avoid the collective. You were the one that mentioned other schools figured it out, I was curious what schools.
Enjoy day 3 of shilling for a billionaire tomorrow. Poor little guy needs people like you to step in for him.
And that’s a good thing. Fans always want and feel we have the right to know, but…not really.Of course there is more to the story. Only one party has been talking.
You are correct, but you responded to my genuine question of how other schools have figured it out with a "good lord".The first part of paragraph 3 is juvenile.
I have been responding to messages quoting me.
Well, Nils played with Neil first, so….Hmmm...View attachment 252108
Geeze,,,ok last post about this:What kind of treatment is he asking for?
Geeze,,,ok last post about this:
To answer: Better treatment than the typical NIL/CAF steps that is currently offered that every single other person who donates to SU athletics and players follows.
So, Please answer my question. Why should he get better treatment, as defined above, than every other person who plays by the same NIL/CAF rules for Syracuse?
(I've seen you already say he should follow the collective so you agree in principle but for some reason you can not let go of defending the guy...You are not appearing objective as you stated, so I'm a little suspicious and ending my part in this convo...Best of luck and G'Orange).
If AW wanted his money only to go to the basketball program, that would be no problem. If he wanted his money to go only to the player or players he wanted it to, that would also be no problem. And asking around today, I have found no donor at no school that didn't give the money only to a collective. Not saying that it doesn't happen, but I couldn't find it. Nor could the people I asked about it.Great question. I guess some context there.
I'm not sure when it was he said he wouldn't go through an NIL collective. I guess I had hope that because there was an attempt to get the parties together recently that was a past statement and something they could figure out. For example if he wanted x to go to just basketball or one particular player. When things went sour before I imagine things with NIL were more turbulant. At the end of it school has a want, donor has what they want.
I also assume that with a lot of the egos that money brings, schools have to figure out how far they will go to do that. I imagine SU isn't the only school to deal with it.
Hope that better explains my position. Its way harder to do this over constant messages with a complex subject and multiple convos.
John Ruiz at Miami seemed to be his own collective, I believe. But, he got into trouble. I believe it was pretty mild though, compared to how recklessly he was throwing around NIL deals. Adam was relatively composed in comparison. If AW wanted his money only to go to the basketball program, that would be no problem. I don't believe he is involved any longer though, is he?John Ruiz at Miami seemed to be his own collective, I believe. But, he got into trouble. I believe it was pretty mild though, compared to how recklessly he was throwing around NIL deals. Adam was relatively composed in comparison.
I'm not sure, but I don't think so. I believe that has more to do with his company failing and federal investigations. I don't think Miami backed away from him, but I don't know that as fact.I don't believe he is involved any longer though, is he?
One last comment from me... this really isn't that complex. SU asked AW to follow certain guidance, largely being to run his money through the existing NIL collective. AW could dictate how that money is used down to the penny. But AW, for reasons known only to him, does not want to follow that guidance. The same guidance, mind you, that literally every other donor to SU's NIL funds, large and small, follows.Hope that better explains my position. Some people want this to be some complicated conspiracy, complete with heroes and villains. It's actually remarkably simple, and pretty boring in the grand scheme of things.

But haven't the goalposts moved regarding NIL. Isn't it legit to now directly pay players. Couldn't someone circumvent the entire university and just decide to pay some recruits independently under the guise of the Red Autry Discretionary Fund.Piecing together quotes from the time this first went down:
"Weitsman told syracuse.com that Syracuse University chancellor Kent Syverud was the reason behind his departure. "From what I understand, hearing it from sources at the university, he did not like the high-profile nature of the celebrities coming to games and the way I was going about NIL, discussing it with the media.” “He was not comfortable with that, but the only way I knew to go about doing NIL is to do it high-profile. We’re in Syracuse, New York. We have to bring attention to our area."
"Weitsman said he is not involved with recruiting because he does not talk about recruiting. He said he is not paying athletes to play for Syracuse because he is paying them to do charity work..."
"Syracuse.com interviewed 12 experts who work in NIL, law or compliance for this story. Ten believed Weitsman’s actions might be enough to trigger an inquiry from the NCAA under its new focus. They wondered whether Weitsman’s reasoning would hold up under close scrutiny."
SU will likely NEVER comment on this publicly. But, I suspect they did not want AW as the face of NIL and did not want to risk a 3rd NCAA inquiry. Miami was charged with an NCAA violation and placed on probation because of John Ruiz's public involvement in NIL shortly after this went down with AW.
It's only because he has certain expectations - mostly publicity.
And if he wants to donate, I don't see why anyone is stopping him.
He is the one behind this endless PR campaign.
It's not the Lally's keeping this alive. It's not Syverud.
AW, at this point, is just like Blake Lively.
I really don't care about your story. Nobody really cares, except the people they are paying to keep putting across their point of view. I don't think you are nearly as important as you are trying to convince everyone else that you are.
I don't give a shtt about Gossip Girl, or her sexual harassment suit against her co-star.
I certainly don't have another minute's time to listen to this attention seeking BS from a supposed supporter of the program who won't actually give any money unless he can turn SU sports into his own personal reality show.
Do what you want to do, man. At this point, most of us are tired of reading your BS.
You are not appearing objective as you stated, so I'm a little suspicious and ending my part in this convo...Best of luck and G'Orange).
Any college kid, whether they are a student athlete or just a regular student, would benefit listening to any CEO type speak, whether it's Adam Weitsman or Warren Buffett. One thing about AW's appearance on ET and Devo's show that has bothered me was him saying that he was a mentor/wanted to mentor the players. I'm sorry but a billionaire donor should not be mentoring student athletes. That should a parent, coach or teacher.
