Don’t you think it is fair to say if a donor wanted to give money to a school, most institutions would figure it out? Are there some they may turn said donor away……yes I believe so, but I also think there are some that would stroke said ego.

Other than donating outside NIL collective what is this special treatment?

Just so you are clear, I don’t agree that it should be outside the collective if SU doesn’t want it that way but you or I don’t know why he would prefer it. Maybe it’s better tax wise or any number of random things

When you see a concert, you pay your hundred bucks or whatever and that's it. Springsteen doesn't come out at the end and ask for more money to pay Roy so that he doesn't hit the portal and join Neil Young's band. And if he DOES portal to Neil, well Bruce needs you to pony up so that he can attract a good piano player. Nope, that's not how it works but for whatever reason college sports now works that way. Sure, guys always got paid. But not like this, and not via demands of the fanbase to foot the bill.

And that’s a good thing. Fans always want and feel we have the right to know, but…not really.

I, for one, am glad that SU has not gotten down in the mud with a public pissing match over this. I assume their legal team in no way, no how, wants this either.

I can only assume that they are fine with their position and have likely lined up other funding…perhaps where it would not have existed if things had gone on as before. That is merely conjecture, but it would not surprise me if it were the case.

At the end of the day, the majority of SU fans nationwide and worldwide are probably not even aware of the whole AW-SU situation. I would also bet that most who are aware don’t care that much one way or the other. It is only in places like this board and in particular, this thread, where a small subset of the thousands of people who log on or lurk here take the time to post impassioned thoughts either way on the whole thing.

I'm not sure when it was he said he wouldn't go through an NIL collective. I guess I had hope that because there was an attempt to get the parties together recently that was a past statement and something they could figure out. For example if he wanted x to go to just basketball or one particular player. When things went sour before I imagine things with NIL were more turbulant. At the end of it school has a want, donor has what they want.


I also assume that with a lot of the egos that money brings, schools have to figure out how far they will go to do that. I imagine SU isn't the only school to deal with it.

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. I believe that has more to do with his company failing and federal investigations. I don't think Miami backed away from him, but I don't know that as fact.

SU will likely NEVER comment on this publicly. But, I suspect they did not want AW as the face of NIL and did not want to risk a 3rd NCAA inquiry. Miami was charged with an NCAA violation and placed on probation because of John Ruiz's public involvement in NIL shortly after this went down with AW.

But haven't the goalposts moved regarding NIL. Isn't it legit to now directly pay players. Couldn't someone circumvent the entire university and just decide to pay some recruits independently under the guise of the Red Autry Discretionary Fund.

The thing that I'm starting to really find annoying is I go on FB, and there are 3 Adam stories there, and I see an email from NunesMagician, and it's an Adam story. Then I get an email from Inside the Loud House, and yep, you guessed it. Several podcasts about SU sports. Same stuff.

I mean, yes, I get it. It's sort of "news", but isn't all of this like 2 or 3 years old? Why are we seeing these old posts? Why is this EVERYWHERE? I mean, stop it. This is what you want to spend your money on, public opinion? Why not just make a freaking donation? How much have you spent on PR?

Any college kid, whether they are a student athlete or just a regular student, would benefit listening to any CEO type speak, whether it's Adam Weitsman or Warren Buffett.

We are talking about grown college students, who are making some good cabbage from NIL, not some 2nd grader who is too young to run their own lemonade stand.

I’d wager a lot of money he is not worth a billion dollars. I know he claims he is worth $1.5b (he says as much on his website, which is a bit of a red flag). But nothing about it adds up.

Even if you take his annual revenue at face value (his website says 750M) and then apply standard margins for that industry…and then assume he owns 100 percent of the company with no other investors or debt…you don’t get to the valuation that supports his net worth being anywhere close to 1.5B unless he’s sitting on tremendous assets or investments elsewhere. Given the lavish lifestyle he lives and the properties he has owned….i don’t think that’s likely. My guess is he’s worth a fraction of what he claims he is.

I think most people who care to tell you what they are worth are lying about it. Especially the newly rich.
