Northwestern wants a new football stadium

No school, unless your an SECult member or one of 4 Big10 schools, should have as large a stadium as they have now. Schools like syracuse and other peers would be better served by lowering the total seats and making the experience better

I don't disagree with lowering the seat total but the only way to make the experience better is to win.

I think the issue might be that 40K for football would make the basketball configuration a bit too small. We probably still need to have the ability to squeeze 30K in for hoops. Granted it may only happen once a season, but it's kind of our thing.

Ive thought that initially...but this would give Pete Sala the ability to get 40k for bball, with a little tinkering. Might have to make both endzone bleacher sections move to the backs of the baskets and put the bball court on the 50 yard line.

I am sure a new 40k stadium would take into consideration how to maximize attendance with the BBall court. Even if you proportionally reduce BBall, we are at 27k. Yes, that isn't 30k but it is still 5k bigger than #2.

This is all just talk, as we do not have the money for a new stadium. I wish we could pull off Lille's stadium. That is 50k for football and transforms into 30k for BBall.

We should make our stadium 4k people. Create a nightclub scarcity. It would def work better with our student/alum base. They know that market much better.

We don't need a new stadium and I didn't think we were talking about that. This is about changing benches to seats and reducing capacity in the process. Something I assume is in the works and will happen within a few years.

We're about to be 5-0 for the first time in 35 years.

We have a (currently) ranked NC State team coming here in two weeks.

We have ND coming here two weeks after that.

Still PLENTY of tickets available for both games.

Think our remarkable athletic dept. will wisely use the bye week to remind people of that?
