All that and a 2pt game. RidiculousMcCool (20 saves) / Mullen (21-26) / Hiltz (5 & 1)
Shout out to Sam English.
it was magically delicious.Well we don't know how this season is going to end up but I will say after being Notre Dame's b*tch for what felt like a decade it was so great to beat them twice in the same season!
Only thing I could think of was refs decided the non-Leo penalties were dead ball and therefore locked in.Why on earth are all of those non releasable lol. It’s impossible for nd now but what the hell are these refs doing???
What a great story Elijah-Brown is. I’ve posted this before, but you can just tell he’s extremely well-liked amongst his teammates because the entire team, both on the field & sidelines, goes nuts every time he scores & then he’s always mobbed. His goals tonight were both “juice goals”. It’s crazy that he has 6 career goals & 3 have come in the last 2 games against ACC foes. Just a senior stepping up in his final May run.Liked the little end around play we had with Hiltz coming around from x. We were sticking with the middies off the dodge since it was working. Set up some nice offball shots for Thomson and Hiltz. Good to see Payton get a goal off the dodge to get back on track. And have to shout out Gregory Elijah Brown. So cool to finally have the OCC to Cuse connection back in action. Those tight angle finishes are not as easy as they look and he is automatic there.
Ochoa and Kavs penalties were locked in. They must have locked in Leo’s penalty as well but it didn’t sound like it when they announced the four penalties.Only thing I could think of was refs decided the non-Leo penalties were dead ball and therefore locked in.
Leo’s was definitely locked in because it was either unnecessary roughness or cross check.Ochoa and Kavs penalties were locked in. They must have locked in Leo’s penalty as well but it didn’t sound like it when they announced the four penalties.
We probably won’t get it but an explanation of what went down would be nice.
Thought the same thing about the push call. Clearly did not have possession and it wasn't remotely close. Not sure why it was a penalty and even less sure why it was not released (they definitely announced it as a push, and they only announced that the offsetting unsportsmanlikes were non-releasable).Leo’s was definitely locked in because it was either unnecessary roughness or cross check.
Ochoa was deadball unsportsmanlike. The hit from behind that started the skirmish was by Caccamo or Kuzynski.
That should’ve been at worst a 30 second push with possession (even though the ND player had already lost the ball). Watching it live I thought it was a simple push without possession, not a penalty..
concurrent penalties, whether both teams or one, are locked in.Ochoa and Kavs penalties were locked in. They must have locked in Leo’s penalty as well but it didn’t sound like it when they announced the four penalties.
We probably won’t get it but an explanation of what went down would be nice.
Not ridiculous when in truth it was a four-goal game.but somehow a :30 push call becomes unreleasable. All that and a 2pt game. Ridiculous

We dominated and covered the spread. As a mentally weakfish team where a weather delay could mess us up more than most, take the W and stop with the ridiculous assessment.
simultaneous penalties make it unreleasable. every single time. Not ridiculous when in truth it was a four-goal game.but somehow a :30 push call becomes unreleasable.

Thanks for the info!simultaneous penalties make it unreleasable. every single time.
and i just saw the replay (this is for others).. with su already having a flag down, the push becomes time serving (and unreleasable), regardless of whether the other team has possession. if they had possession, the play would've been killed. this new-ish rule accounts for that.
just trying to clear it up for everybody.
Good post.HUGE win! With Army’s loss today, I don’t think we even make it to the playoffs with a loss today. Phew. At least we’re in the tournament (we should be).
Best game of the season:
-We Finally ran the offense through Hiltz! He’s our best offensive player (we will Really miss him next year), so keep running the offense through him, and not Spallina. Run some picks for Hiltz, too, to get him matched up on a SSDM, and then let him do his thing. I’ve been asking for this all season. He’s SO good
-McCool is a national championship level goalie… stud
-Mullen was obviously outstanding today
-Spallina is SO good on Man Up with his passing, but just use him there. Otherwise, keep him off ball
-Our Man Up team, or should I say our Box Lacrosse team looks fantastic. Good job Coach Gait with the Man Up team. We only have 1 middie (Leo) on our man-up team because it’s just our box lacrosse attackmen. They are literally playing box lacrosse out there with their passing and finishing (minus the ridiculous bonecrushing picks from behind that are legal in box)
BUT
-Our weakest link is still our SSDMs: Jake Spallina got beaten for a few goals (someone needs to teach him how to hedge and at least slow down the dodger when his man is picking our longstick), Bolognino got beat, Ochoa got beat badly, and even Rice (who is great) got beat, BUT our inability to slide and support our SSDMs is frustrating to watch. They’re getting dodged on from X, and the dodger gets all the way to the goal without anyone sliding to help? That’s poor coaching. Please slide early if a SSDM is getting beaten
-Hottle and Anderson are both significantly better players then Rhoa, and both of them need more touches. Rhoa’s catch and shoot is good, but that’s about it
-We’re lucky that they didn’t put a SSDM on Thomson. Other teams will. We need to be ready for that, and possibly swap him with Anderson if other teams do it
Still, congrats to Coach Gait! Not making the playoffs this year would have been demoralizing for this program
