Thought it would be nice to see a game at Notre Dame, experienced the pregame atmosphere, was nice, lots of ND fans welcoming us to campus, got the feeling after a while though that they knew they were going to win easy, but I doubt they expected what happened. Good experience till the game started, When it was 21-0 I had ND fans walking into the row offering condolences for our loss, never had that happen espcially a few minutes into the game. Was not the best feeling, Their offense hadn't even been on the field yet. When they finally ran 2 plays it was 28-0, and after they ran 3 more it was 35-0. I have never experienced anything like it. Some of the ND fans like someone else mentioned asked why they were playing ACC teams like this.
Certainly glad it was not as cold as it could have been and was not raining. ND did not need Carr to do much and he didn't, threw a few balls up for grabs down the sidelines that we defended ok, and completed a few shorter passes but when you score multiple TDs on long runs basically untouched I guess you don't need to. So many things wrong with this team. Can't run the ball, because the blocking is not good and the RB's seem intent on running into the back of the linemen who get no push. The ND fans complained when we gained positive yards let alone any first downs. WRs seem to be unable to get any separation no matter who we play and when they are open the QB's tend to wait to long to throw allowing the DBs time to recover or to read the QBs eyes and make a play on the ball leading to ints.
Defensively would have been hard to stop ND, the offense not moving the ball hurts, but it is the overall defensive effort this year that has shown the glaring weeknesses with tackling, penetration and pressure on the QB's. To top it off the coaches have demenonstrated no ability to game plan or adapt, I keep saying over the years can our OL recruits be this bad, but now our QB recruits seem worse, even simple things they cannot do, not sure what Filardi is doing in practice to show that he should have gotten the UNC and ND starts but must be going against our defense even makes him look good. Carney I'll just say I don't know what the thinking was there, someone asked what has he done to warrant getting any time. Well he has completed a few passes, hasn't gotten picked and has a couple decent runs, but limited series and play calls. What would anyone expect from him. Just puzzling there.
Oh well don't know what to think about the game against BC but they were in the game against ND and were driving in the 4th quarter for a potential game tying score. I don't have a good feeling about this game, since we aren't going to shutout BC and have to wonder if we will score. I'll still be there but this has not been fun to watch.
