Official 2018 New York Football GIANTS Drive for 5 Thread

I'm not sold on all 3 north teams making it. Carolina will have something to say before the season is out. Right now I'd say Green Bay is the odd team out.
Green Bay is flawed but I think they will be tough to beat at home and will steal enough roads game to be ahead of Carolina.
Carolina is going to have more difficultly winning all their home games.
I think the North is only division I am sure will see atleast 2 playoff teams right now in the NFC.

I trust the saints. Think they are right there with the rams week 1 not withstanding.
Saints offense is only reason I give them a chance against the Rams.
To beat the Rams it’s like the Patriots.
Get ahead of them and continue being aggressive.
The Saints have the best OL in the NFL right now they can block the Rams DL and they can either 5 yard you to death if you play deep or they can get chunk plays if teams play them tight.

the giants were in the game against the saints up to a couple screwy calls in that game kept them from making a decent run.. they just need to stop getting so far behind before the offense starts to work

I think their d will get better. They have all the ingredients to win a sb. Hof qb. Two terrific backs pass rushers a great coach.

99% of the people in the NFL knew the Giants should have taken a QB.

Shurmur literally got the job because he was someone that was willing to take the pledge.

OL in 2019 and Tua in 2020.

Thankfully the NFC East is mediocre so we can pretend we have a shot for a few more weeks.

What?

Why??

Who???

None were worth it and they have a QB for this and the next 2 years.

Just got offered four tix to the game tomorrow night. Nice seats too but I can't swing it. Just happened to look at the weather for tomorrow night. Ugly.

You're probably right but there is a decent chance the North teams end up beating each other.

And here I was going to invite u to my tailgate...

Gonna be a Barkley and Ajayi game.

Wait...

And beyond that, I don’t think this is the kind of OL you want to break a new QB in behind.

With a rookie QB not named Mayfield and Gallman as the main RB, I shudder to think how bad this year’s offense would be.

Eli doesn’t try to stretch the field.
That was what OBJ was saying. Safeties sneak up and that is what hurts the Giants O.
This past game Eli threw deep and they completed the passes because they were open because Mike Adams was cheating up.

Eli needs to throw deep even if they don’t succeed just to stretch the D.

The Giants now are just throwing slants to OBJ or check downs and they break tackles.

This was a 2 player draft...and the Giants got 1 of them.
If you think Barkley’s value is the same as Josh Rosen or any of the rookie QBs your don’t get it.
The Giants have Barkley for cheap for 4 years and if they exercise his 5th year option he will become the top paid RB because of the cap numbers for RBs.

I wanted no and still don’t want...any part of Rosen...and likely Darnold too.

Then you probably wanted the Pats package of 2 1’s, 2 2’s, and this years one if Mayfield was available at 2.
As I don’t think Barkley was worth the second pick in the draft just because of his position. RBs can be studs but are still the most likely to get hurt.

Wait...

Haha that would have been a lot of fun. I wish I could attend - I hate missing home games. :)

That type of bounty was acceptable.

An elite RB with both power and game breaking speed, who is super versatile(they’ve already split him out wide and thrown downfield to him) has more value than the typical RB.

The Rams got Kurt Warner out of a Wal Mart. Marshall Faulk made that all go, IMO.

eagles secondary is terrible .. Tennessee threw on them all day and we know how the titans looked against Buffalo .. and the giants have much better receivers than the titans

If they can’t win at home on a short week against this banged up philly team .. they might as well tank it

QB is so much more valuable than RB. Darnold will be good. He's doing fine. He was there. He's incredibly young and could have easily sat behind Eli this year.

This wasn't hard. Eli and OBJ push for McAdoo, they get McAdoo. That doesn't work out. Ownership basically mandates staying the course, so Shurmur takes the pledge, and this is where we are.

You always want to be a year too soon rather than a year too late in the NFL with *any* position and most certainly the QB position.

We are now in a hole with our only hope being that the NFC East is trash enough that we can compete with our team.

We have the wrong GM, wrong coach and no QB of the future *and* an OL that needs serious help.

The silver lining that I see is that, I believe, next year's draft is stacked for OL (not for QBs) so we can help fix the OL so Eli's injury luck doesn't run out when teams continuously crush him. Then, if we stink enough, we can get Tua in 2020.

Not sure how you feel about Herbert from Oregon, but if we stink enough this year, there will likely be a LOT of pressure to take him. But I'm fully in camp Tua in 2020.

Nailed it.
Eli is a clutch QB if he gets in the spot it’s needed but he isn’t the guy who can carry an inferior roster like Rodgers and Brady.
Those are guys you hold onto till the last possible time.
Eli is a bottom half QB right now because QB play is at an alltime high right now. It’s just people like Kaiser and a larger extend Francesca. These fans are emotional about the guy. I get being loyal but it’s also the Eli lover don’t see the roster isn’t there for him to just be the last piece.

If Eli was the Jacksonville QB with that D I think he could win another SB.
With this Giants roster your just hoping the division is like the AFC East and you guys can steal it and get in.

Giants should try to get in this year but it’s not likely to happen and like the Patriots they need to spend a top pick on a QB successor.
My team is on borrowed time as well it’s just Brady can carry an inferior roster in an inferior league.

Yeah - I'm a huge Eli fan. His two SBs are otherworldly. HoF will be calling. Giants legend. Etc, etc.

But his great moments are fewer and fewer. It's fine, guy has been a rock since he started. I just wanted the QB for post-Eli to be on the bench already.

BTW - I think Saquon is awesome. It's his position, not his caliber of play.

Yeah I didn’t like the Pats taking a RB at 31.
It’s the position. They have a 4-5 year shelf life and then deteriorate. It’s why Pittsburgh won’t pay Leveon Bell.
I think the Rams were stupid to pay Gurley.
Never pay RBs. It’s asking for dead money.
I would have taken Darnold or Chubb if they were taking for value.

The positions I how I rank them on value.

1. QB
2. DE
3. LT
4. CB
5. LB
6. DT
7. WR
8. RB

I just wouldn’t take a RB in the top 15 of the draft. The 5th year option automatically becomes an overpay and that is suppose to be the advantage. Like it is for QBs or DEs.
