And while it is not easy to enforce, they will eventually make an example of someone.

The NCAA is so mad at Penn State over the pedophile scandal that they punished Syracuse for having fans tweet a football recruit.

If a kid makes a decision on where to go to school because of twitter activity, he's an idiot.
Actually, it would demonstrate some analytic ability. We certainly wouldn't want that in a football player.

Really, what's it reflective of, who has the most out of control fan base filled with people who don't care about rules and don't see it as inappropriate to communicate with a 17 year old kid they don't know.

If you're looking at the player it may be showing an ability to assess the nature, quality and quantity of data and make a decision based on said data.

I outright reject your statement that if a player picks their school based on Twitter activity that they are an idiot.

Good for you.

Yeah I'm sure he gets real quality data off his twitter feed ... :bat: I'm waiting to see a bunch of fans post the academic rankings of each program for each school to help him make an informed decision.

You're missing the point.

Kids aren't using Twitter as their complete means to pick schools, but it shows them things about the intensity of the fan base when their fans are constantly tweeting them daily.

You're missing the point.

I'm not the one missing the point ... anyone who picks a school because you have a twitter audience and they have posters that sound like savants ... or doesn't pick a school because you have a group of rowdy idiots ... is an idiot ... based on some of the crap I see on this board if I used it for my metric of school selection I wouldn't have chosen SU ... because there are quite a few on here that make me shake my head ... repeatedly ...

But seriously, bro.

You're missing the point.

Can you elaborate on OE's visit?
Yes, I second this request. Some actual information or even idle speculation at this point on the actual subject of this post woud be very much appreciated.

Its the NCAA's definition ... I posted a link earlier in the thread. The moment you contact a recruit with the intent to direct them to a school you are then seen as a booster for that particular university ...

I read your link. Your link posted to a news article which quoted an OKLAHOMA STATE'S compliance officer's understanding of what the definition is. You really need to go to the source itself - meaning the actual NCAA bylaws. I have looked at this before.
