I don't understand why you're trying to make it seem like the only thing his decision is based on is Twitter. Nobody's saying that but you. The guy came on campus. He has people in his life with input. Obviously there are other significant factors. Why is it so awful to think that maybe, just maybe Twitter is part of the decision making mix for some recruits? And why are you so reluctant to admit that maybe, just maybe recruits are smart enough to filter out some of the crap?

What's sad is that I don't think you're even aware, or care even, how condescending your view is. I even left out some of the worst parts.

You don't think the kid figures out that they need to filter? Or that their Twitter account isn't representative of the experience they'll have at a school? NOBODY SAID EVERYTHING ON TWITTER IS TRUE AND ACCURATE, I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT MY GUESS IS THAT KIDS LEARN THAT PRETTY QUICKLY. You are making some assumptions that should really be an embarrassment to you. You and Go are dug pretty deep down in your trenches though, so don't let me stop you from pounding your chest.

It's really funny that I've been called an idiot twice, and my position has been that people that take the time to analyze what's in front of them aren't idiots.

I did not mean to generalize. However, having lived in the city for the past eight years I know for a fact that the public high schools are underfunded, and therefore have little to no effect on kids making choices to go to college.

And again, I do not mean to be stereotypical. I am just trying to say that the guidance that some kids have when making decisions isn't the greatest.

Gotcha. Still, I have to thing the New York kids are privileged in those respects when compared to, say, your average Florida or coastal Virginia recruit. (Talk about stereotypical.)

Anybody who makes a decision based on, hey what's up, where you at, come to our school it's great, hey come to our school the shorties are hot, hey come to our school you'll be our favorite player, is an idiot.

I don't know. I mean, if it comes down to Notre Dame or BC or Syracuse vs. UNC and UT Austin, could you really blame a kid for taking carolin or UT for purely tail reasons? I'm thinking of going back to school right now.

Yes but
According to some here, it would be a violation for these people to even speak to EO.
you can safely protect any "known pedophile and the NCAA will rattle those swords of theirs, but you talk and the school loses schollies or worse.:bat:

Its amazing to me how much you don't get ... numerous people have said on this thread that it does affect kids because they like the attention ... it feeds into my basic premise and yet you can't let it go. I never said it wasn't effective and I never said it doesn't influence a kid ... but again you would have to be an idiot to allow it to affect your decision ... both Go and myself have the same opinion and others have stated that a lot of kids are young and impressionable and buy into it ... You can point at The Art of War ... War and Peace or any other piece of literature you wish ... you have not said what useful garbage they gleam from twitter because the fact of the matter is nothing from twitter is useful based on 98% of what is written and if you analyzed what data is on the twitter feed instead of pointing to some useless paperback you would know what I mean.

Do you honestly read the feeds or just spout off for the sake of arguing ... I am not pounding anything other then the point that it is not an effective tool nor should it be treated as one when it comes to making a life altering decision like the ones that many of these kids will make. I have never said he is basing his decision on twitter ... what I said was ... anyone who does is an idiot, in agreement with Go I am not sure why you can't digest this point.

It looks like I am not the one having a hard time analyzing what is in front of them. NO WHERE AT ALL DID I SAY HIS (EO's) PARTICULAR DECISION IS TWITTER BASED ... NO WHERE ... WHERE DO YOU SEE THIS? I SAID IF SOMEONE DOES USE THAT AS A BASIS FOR A DECISION THEY ARE AN IDIOT. I cited examples of what you will see on twitter and why it isn't a practical tool ... I never said recruits don't use it in this manner ... I never said they don't pay attention or that they can't filter it out (albeit a lot don't) because many are young and like the attention ... what I said specifically was it is not a good tool to make a decision and if you use that for the basis of your decision you are an idiot ... does that make sense to you now? Or should I write it in crayon and put it in a paperback? And again for the second time ... twitter is only a sub sample of data that isn't necessarily reflective of the whole and is not something practical in making a qualitative analysis when deciding where you will spend the next most important 4 years of your life ... if you base that mostly on twitter you are an idiot.

Cali, I don't understand your post. Make that #2597. Love you man!

According to what you posted it would be ... provided Dwight even gave a nickel to the school ... which I am sure he has done ... again if an AD can interpret the rules in that circumstance so could any governing member of the NCAA ... those rules are written in such a manner that they can be manipulated in various circumstances. You could have another AD interpret the same set a totally different way ... the only interpretation that matters belongs to the governing body.

If they acted unreasonably, yes. But a reasonable interpretation doesn't include this.

You assume people are reasonable ... look at the PSU BOT ... that should give you an idea of what types of decision makers run these institutions ... and yes the NCAA is just one more institution.

I lost track. Who here is actually the ultimate authority on Twitter, Recruiting rules and of course, both?

I weep for the days of Stan and his 1000 Incarnations VS. Everyone else.

Where's CurtB with his golf clubs when we really need him?

How about DonnieManhatten and his breathless pimping of Section 3 recruits that can't even make the team at Morrisville?

I hope nobody tweets Ebeneezer that I don't like tweeting, it might cause him to drop SU from his list and make a surprise verbal to Piscataway CC.

"Shut up, I hit 300 yd drives and I'll hit you in the face with a shovel."

Dude, was epic.

Go, I love your posts, but I have to disagree with you on this one. What 17 year old kid wouldn't be influenced by this:

Because it is an assertion without actual visual proof.

Boys - take it outside and settle it - way I used to do it when I was a young punk.

Can we get back on topic - and ill ask nicely - please. Where are we with EO?
I think we are in the best possible shape with EO as we could be. He has a lot of pals here. He spent 2 and a half days in Syracuse talking with the guys he'd be playing with if he should put on an SU cap on D-Day. He met his idol Dwight Freeney, he met Jim Brown and recent first round pick Chandler Jones. He mentioned that he liked the visit a lot and that he has his mind set on what school he'll be committing to.

Thanks for bringing this back on topic OE. Really appreciate it. Also appreciate the staff's effort on EO and trying to bring the #1 New York guy to the 'Cuse where he belongs. :)

I thought everyone knew who said it. Far more influential than Sarah Palin.

uhhh, just a joke. However no female in american history has been more influential than Sarah Palin. You decide if that is a joke :D

Yeah I saw that interview. It looks good for SU. I think he knows he fits here. I dont think he wants to be far from home. He talked about being able to take a short flight home to have moms home cook meal. We will see. After seeing that interview, I still dont know if he will choose Fla or ND, but I do know we have a great chance. Like I said before if he choose to go to either of the other two. He has until February to change his mind to Cuse and I feel confident he will if it comes down to that. I think we need to win some games that we are not suppose to. Like the WV game last year.
