Ohh noooooo

I said in the other thread…in 2002 when we beat Missouri we were unranked they were I think 12…we absolutely stormed the court. There were similar games in the last twenty years.

This isn’t a new argument. We just haven’t beaten a ranked team in a long time lol

It happened multiple times that year and was a blast ( was a frosh on the hill that year myself)

My problem isn't them storming the court: They could storm after every win for all I care. Let them have fun. My problem is that every one of them has to film themselves on their phone doing it. Put the phone down and take it all in!

I am totally team boomer on this.

Weirdo behavior

Sadly that's true.
I don't care for storming but can certainly understand this one.
Fans are excited SU "pulled" the upset.

But it's a far cry from the way it was...when Orange fans expected to beat everyone the team played...regardless of who they were and how highly they were ranked.
Can't imagine this happening back in Big East days.

We need to get back there.

Didn't the fans storm the court 2 times in a single game the year we won the national championship? This has been happening forever.

Gun to my head, as someone who has had the privilege of experiencing many great years of SU basketball and is embarrassed of how fall we have fallen in the past 10-12 years, do I wish the court storming didn't happen? Yes.

Do I completely understand why an 18-21 year old kid would absolutely love the opportunity to run out there and have fun? Of course also yes.

20 years ago this would have annoyed me. This team has fallen far enough i am fine with it now.

So many boomers on this board
storming the court is what davids do when they beat goliaths...its what small schools do when they beat the bluebloods

clearly the reason old heads dont like it is the implied self-perception of the fanbase of being a david

even if thats what SU is right now in terms of national perception...doesnt mean we have to buy in to that narrative or like things that feed into it...

tennessee isnt that good that a school like syracuse should feel like beating them is some kinda miracle

but yeah, I also see the other side...its just kids hving fun...and in that sense, of course its all good

i guess nothing wrong with it if you think it was all that epic ( btw it wasn't)

i suppose if we had won on say a miracle shot with .4 seconds on the clock then it's ok .

Good point. I'm going to put you in charge of the phone tree to let people know if a win is "epic" enough to storm the court.

I think we should start a tradition after wins where we all stand and do a subtle nod in unison. One that says, "That was satisfactory."

Then we identify a "player of the game." But instead of celebrating them, we sit them in a chair at center court and stand around them in a circle, critiquing their game. One person (chosen at halftime) is allowed to throw a rock at the player. This is so they don't get a big head and get the sense they're too appreciated.

Normally I'd say let's act like we've been there before but it's been so long since we have so whatever - if this gets the kids excited and causes them to attend more games, keep storming!

wow. let me guess drama major ? remember storming tennessee not only lowers us it elevates them. there are only a handful of programs i truly despise and tennessee is one of them .
(goes back to phil fullmer and tobias harris days. ) so was i happy ? hell yes. was it epic ? no .
we "old white dudes" have a saying goes "act like you been there." but everyone is entitled to their own criteria i suppose. sorry but last night didn't meet mine. ( cut. and scene...)

You know people are starting to be satisfied (even a little) with Syracuse basketball's direction when we're complaining about court storming.

Keep up the momentum. I'd like more posts complaining about court storming, jerseys being tucked in, food at the dome, etc. Those are the green shoots for the Cuse bball turnaround.

Keep em coming.

Agreed. Celebrate the win, sure. Cheer until your voice is gone. But stay in the stands. Syracuse should carry itself like a program that expects to beat ranked teams, not like one that loses its mind every time it happens. If Tennessee had been #1, fine you could argue for a pass. But #13? Come on. Act like we belong, because we do. We’re supposed to be a proud school with history, banners and expectations.

It’s been over a decade since our program was synonymous with perennial contender status. It’s not like everyone at the Dome is a bunch of fanatics like those of us here on the board and many students don’t know the history or were too young to be true fans when we were at that level. So many don’t see things in the same light which I get. We rushed a ton back in 03 and that included students who did know what it represented and meant to be an SU fan and the program status.

Let people have their fun and excitement build. When we win more big games and there is a ranking next to our name we can worry about such things as being unbecoming of fans of a historically great program.

I disagree with cheering until your voice is gone. I think people should only cheer for an appropriate amount of time...about 25-30 seconds. Anything more than that is undignified. I mean we are Syracuse after all.

Yep. It was hilarious. JB even came on the PA and told everyone to get off the court. This was also the same season when Hak lost his mind and chucked the ball straight up in the air to run out the clock at home against ND. The problem was that there was still like 10 seconds to go and there was a mad scramble for the ball when it came back down. Fortunately, it worked out for us and still won the game.
