Ohio Bobcats (Week 1)

4-0 nonconference record. No excuses.

Its friggin Ohio, Rutgers at home, Albany, and Liberty.

We should always be good enough to go 4-0 against that.

Wish I could be as confident as you but I just don't see it. SU hasn't had an undefeated OOC in decades and while I think this team should win against Ohio and definitely will against Albany I can't say the same against Liberty and unfortunately Rutgers. That Rutty game screams classic SU frustrating loss.

I thought this was a lock last year and laughed at the over under win total. Vegas just makes me very nervous when the total is 3 wins.
Yeah, me too

I try to hang my hat on the fact that Vegas (and most algos) makes money betting on short term mean reversions around a stable medium term trend which is the most common occurrence. What they (and algos) are terrible at is identifing inflection points in the trend (negative or positive).

Now that we fixed depth at OL and QB and also have both lines filled with 4+ year program players, I can’t envision less than 6 wins.

I think Dino finally fixed the roster balance (2 years late) and it will show up with a bowl season.

Vegas always knows

there is 100% reason why the O/U is 3 wins.

makes me nervous

Rutgers and Liberty are going to be tough.

I could see us going 3-1 and I could equally see us going 1-3
Yeah but Vegas doesn't know about the Kumbaya meetings and they didn't look into the players hearts nor the coaches hearts so go over the 3 wins.

Except liberty will probably be ranked and may have the best qb we see all year. Rutgers is still a B10 team.

Do we take the ball if we win the coin toss or defer?

Ohio ran the pistol under Solich. If I was a late replacement coach...I'd probably keep it.

I like the pistol. It has its pluses or minuses just like any offense. It used to be my number one offense to want because I believed it gave you the down hill running attack that I like to see in the spread. I’ve learned through the years that you can still have your down hill run plays even when the back is off set.
