OJLL 2024

Hell yes. Get this dude on our attack line please. People talk about speed as a need for our offense. I think what we really need is a guy who can catch anything our elite feeders throw and put the damn ball in the cage. Would like to see us try an attack line of Spallina on right wing, Hiltz or Leo on the left wing, and Deere in that Dyson Williams/Jake Taylor type of role. You can go Hiltz Leo Spallina as an additional dodging-heavy option depending on the defense/matchups. Deere has the chemistry with Spallina, experience with pick plays and two man game that we love to use, and an effective outside shot to go along with his finishing inside. Do not want to see this guy only playing in garbage time next season, especially when we had 5 key offensive players with shooting percentages in the 20s. If we want to take that final step forward with the offense we need guys like Deere.

Depending on how tonight shakes out, it looks like the Northmen may avoid the Toronto Beaches until the OJLL finals.

This decision confirms the forfeiture of the first 8 games by the Toronto Beaches. Part of the procedural aspects of the appeals and continued consideration was that this action was not taken based on a protest filed by Orangeville but by action taken on his own discretion by the OJLL Commissioner in determining that violations occurred by Toronto in certain player procedures and eligibility.

Oops. Six Nations beats Mimico tonight and it looks like they move into 7th place bumping the Toronto Beaches down to 8th place & thus a first round matchup vs first place Orangeville. Buckle up. First game Friday night.

Woof!

Woof!
Joey 1g, 5a
Trey 3g, 5a

Joey ends the regular season #1 in points with 116 points (40g 76a) even though he only played in 16 of the 20 regular season games. His teammate Liam Mathews was second with 111 points (in 20 games). Finn Thomson of Mimico was 4th with 105 points and Trey Deere was 6th with 96 points. GO ORANGE!

Without the forfeiture of games, Willem Firth would have finished first is scoring, but perhaps this is all payback for those terrible calls up in Ithaca this past year.

He calls it a first round best of 5 match up between the 2 Minto Cup favorites. He says the key will be goaltending. He talks mostly about the Beaches. Calls Willem Firth of the Beaches the best player in the league. The guy doing the analysis (who will be on the OJLL telecast tonight) is a Cornell guy so naturally favors Firth.

Donville may be a Cornell guy (and also a Northmen) but its hard to argue with his conclusion. Joey is doing great, no doubt, but I would have to agree that Firth is arguably the best in the league (over the last 3 seasons).
