Okay, let's fire

Can someone pretty please get me a copy of the contract?

None of us should assume SU would actually have to pay millions to terminate, even if there’s a sort of buyout clause. These things aren’t always black and white. That’s why there’s so much contract litigation.

Time to roll out the red carpet and big paycheck for Jay Wright. Seriously, the dude is a class act and we need something huge to dig us out of this show. I used to love Syracuse Basketball, obsessed now I hardly go to the dome and I don't even get bothered if I miss most games on TV. Back in the day, I'd panic if I missed one. Syracuse basketball is going to slip away and become irrelevant and there is little time left.

I don't see why he would ever want to coach again, to be honest.
Two titles at his alma mater. His players are doing great in the NBA.
Be a broadcaster. Hang around the industry, but really zero pressure.

I think someone mentioned that we may be "loose" with our millions and that is a very interesting nugget we should hear about in the future.

What does this mean?

Basketball is no longer a cash cow. Just think about when we averaged 29,000+ per game in the eighties. We will probably not get a crowd over 20,000 this year.

And, with the help of our coaching, we’ll achieve that goal sooner than the already-existing external forces would have.

No one has given an answer as to where we are going to get the money for this?
It wont be there from what I understand. Theres very little buy in right now. Thats the reality. Basketballs not attracting the dough that football is. 20 years of built up good will we destroyed in 5 or 6 years.

Duke and UNC. The rest, we might be looking at 15K.

So we gave up a bunch of the best parts of college sports to join a league that we don't fit at all and that is in a steady decline and we can't hire a real basketball coach a decade later?

The only way to turn that around is more NBA alums start helping.

Why would Alex Kline be held responsible for this? He was just hired.
A new coach would want his guy. That isn't complicated. If you were a new coach, you want the old coaches guy?

Yes. And the commissioner went on TV and butchered his hit bc he couldn’t remember/articulate where Jordan Travis played quarterback.

[edit - I get we had to make the move. This conference will never not be a NC conference]

Keeping Red and the product on the court isn't bringing them to the table any time soon either.
This is the Melo factor.

Melo could take us to another level if he wanted to ……. But does he want?

Melo is only doing this because his kid is potentially coming here. Why wasn't he involved before? When his kid leaves Melo leaves. He could have been helping this entire time but didn't.

Another thing we are doing poorly in our recruitment of NIL. All of a sudden we have a football coach and the NIL situation improved. Funny how that worked.

To be fair, a good chunk of that came from people Fran has a relationship with. It also appears football donors have deeper pockets. See Burton and others.

Like, yeah man.

You enjoy the football season? Because without moving, we wouldn't have that
I'm not arguing I genuinely don't understand it... between what we get from the ACC and the revenue we bring in ourselves, that is consistently near the top or the sport, how can the basketball program not afford to run anywhere near the big dogs? I have to be missing something haha

I mean his name is on the practice facility. Also NIL just started, it’s possible Melo wasn’t gonna do anything until he saw where Kiyan went
