Ok Mr 9 postsGive it a rest for a day
Actually this should be more then bumpers home invasion definitely no..Dash I essentially agree with you. My concern is that we become known as a refuge for kids with bad histories. A flyer here and there on kids who do stupid things, I’m okay with.
It just seemed like we brought in 4-5 all at once, and that was a turn off for me.
But I have a muuuuch bigger issue with people who intend to do harm. Like those convicted in a home invasion crime.
This situation, not great. There better be some bumpers.
Kids that get busted for weed? Eh.
I like it when people make it so easy to know who to put on ignore. I kinda doubt he’ll figure it out before being removed anyhow, but I don’t have to read any more of his schtick. I don’t fully agree with your take but you’re entitled to your opinion. He’ll work hard to get past his history or he won’t. It’s on him to make good on the opportunity.easy for both of us. You are on ignore. Please do the same with me.
the funny thing is, in almost every post I have made on this topic, I have said I respect those that have different opinions of mine.I like it when people make it so easy to know who to put on ignore. I honestly disagree with many of your thoughts on this topic but I would never argue with you about it. There's no point to it. It's your opinion.the funny thing is, in almost every post I have made on this topic, I have said I respect those that have different opinions of mine.
I can see the opposite side to that argument - that we want to take a few second chance high talent kids that are on the market because we have open spots, and brought in a group for in person interviews effectively to see which are the lowest risk / highest reward / best chances at redemption. So although this may have looked like trying to land an entire stable of risky prospects, maybe it was just the dating game. You have nailed it. One, bringing in a half dozen seemed like we are desperate. Maybe we are. And I have never said that I object to some kids being brought in that have been brought in because of weed. Forget football, we wouldn't have a school. One thing, it doesn't seem like we are taking a chance on many 3 star kids. I guess there is a limit to how tolerant we are.
Congratulations Newbie...you've earned yourself a warning. Keep it up and you might even earn a banning and be the one moving on.Do you want a gold star? I could care less if you've been on here for 100 years. Every thread I open up you're yapping about this. Get over yourself and move on
First, No. You have been here 5 minutes, learn the room. Second, SUFANN44 brought the subject up again, not me.
Well that's just like your opinion man.I honestly disagree with many of your thoughts on this topic but I would never argue with you about it. There's no point to it. It's your opinion.
Also, we have no control over what Fran does anyways so...
Not to minimize the horrific loss of life, but I don’t recall reading that Rice was drunk; only that everybody charged was underage and had drinks before this incidentActually this should be more then bumpers home invasion definitely no..
When going 100 miles an hour drunk and someone gets killed.
This kid needs to be a choir boy while he is here. And for the rest of his life.
Hopefully he has grown up from the accident.
Look he’s seems not be close to his originals HS ranking. Let’s hope he can be a good player hereFor perspective, high School offers for Rice from:
- Alabama
- Ohio State
- Notre Dame
- Auburn
- Florida
- Florida State
- Georgia
- LSU
- Miami
- Michigan
- Oklahoma
- Penn State
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Texas A&M
- USC
- ...amongst a dozen other peer programs
I think one of the things I learned pretty quickly after finding this place was that there are a lot of accomplished and connected people here. A cardinal rule is that you should avoid being rude until you know who you're chatting with. I read your posts for a reason. It's kind of an EF Hutton thing. When Dasher posts, people listen. You're not alone and a list of accomplished folks that post here is pretty long and getting longer. It's one of the reasons this place was such a breath of fresh air after seeing what crap was to be found on Syracuse.com's version of a chat room, a lot of years ago now. You and many others make this a cool place, informational, passionate, and respectful. I appreciate you posting here and don't have to agree with you on everything. I'm ok with that.the funny thing is, in almost every post I have made on this topic, I have said I respect those that have different opinions of mine.
Does he actually qualify as having a troubled background? They were kids and driving fast he wasn’t drunk and he wasn’t involved in the accident. There was no intent here. You seem overly judgmental about any kid that did anything wrong. This is definitely not something terrible. Though they were driving recklessly it was still an accident.??? You mean we should overlook his past which involved a girl getting killed because he can help us win football games. Got it. For those that have disagreed with my take on bringing in kids with troubled pasts, let me make myself clear. I keep thinking what would I say to a parent of a Syracuse student who got hurt or worse from the actions of a kid that had a bad background that I brought in to the school. Because I wanted to win football games. Or any other sport. When the parent asks me to explain why I brought that kid in. Now, you might say, any kid can make a mistake and that could happen. And you would be correct. But we wouldn't have been forewarned. I want to win as much as anyone on this board. But that is the background I come from. So, SUFnn44, since you brought this up, exactly what would you say to that parent I just described?
Driving recklessly isn't just an accident. His conduct contributed to a girl losing her life. I bet her family wouldn't say it was just an accident. That is why there were charges.Does he actually qualify as having a troubled background? They were kids and driving fast he wasn’t drunk and he wasn’t involved in the accident. So you wouldn’t take him for driving fast ? That’s my understandingI didn't say it would. Nor do I object with anyone that disagrees with me. I just said I wouldn't take them.
LOLO Having only 182 posts, you would think that. Of course you can make good posts with only a handful. But you don't confront or attack others until you get a feel for the board. I don't think you have done that. Have you? This thread has brought out the middle schooler in more than a few people. For the record, I’m not on board with being the 80’s version of Miami but I also don’t think you have to have been posting here for years to have valid points. The I’ve been here argument is frankly, absurd.
I wouldn't take someone who carelessly raced on the highway where someone lost their life. No.So you wouldn’t take him for driving fast ? That’s my understanding
I've got over 20k posts, and I'm still waiting on my first good one.LOLO Having only 182 posts, you would think that. Of course you can make good posts with only a handful. But you don't confront or attack others until you get a feel for the board. I don't think you have done that. Have you?
Thanks for the advice. And Fran isn't offering these second chances to 3 star recruits. Funny how that second chance things works. And you know what you can do with the high horse crap, right?Learn the room, ok high horse. Let it go, you’ve made your point across multiple threads. Fran obviously believes in second chances, you may not have the same mindset. Don’t like it? Don’t support the team this year.
So are weI've got over 20k posts, and I'm still waiting on my first good one.
It was still an accident and not his accident. I don’t see it as reason for this kid to no longer have opportunities in life unless there is more to the story. Sorry but I think you’re over top on this oneDriving recklessly isn't just an accident. His conduct contributed to a girl losing her life. I bet her family wouldn't say it was just an accident. I am not denying his future opportunities in life. Just not with me if I was making the decision. And he was part of behavior that cost that girl her life. Please don't minimize that. He was racing with the other guy. If this was just an accident, I wouldn't say a word. It was reckless and someone died. They aren't hurt. They aren't on the disabled list. They will never have children. Walk down the aisle. That matters to me. Now, I have said until I am blue in the face, that it is okay if people disagree with me. But please people, not just you, stop trying to change my mind. I want high standards. It was still an accident and not his accident. I don’t see it as reason for this kid to no longer have opportunities in life unless there is more to the story. Sorry but I think you’re over top on this one
