Class of 2014 OLB Jason Cabinda (NJ) Offered "beyond excited"

Good call. Forgot him.

Makes sense. Consequence of the JUCOs

Yeah. Although we did replace Devan Carter after he decommitted with Alryk Perry (and that will be interesting to follow the career of those two), we still only took 2 high school LB's in the last class and 1 (James Washington) the class before. We're definitely due.

Penn State would have offered him had they had schollies

Consider this a benefit in our favor

Per an ESPN article on June 7 he attended a camp there and they had high intetest

Great pick up

I think both PSU and Rutgers would both had offered had they had the room. It worked to our benefit that we're taking so many LB's this year.

I think we still try to get one more. They can be moved to safety if needed or bulk up and go to a D-end.

Recruiting linebackers aggressively makes me wonder what we will see on defense in the future. 3-5-3, 3-5, could be interesting and probably very blitz heavy.
That's the defense that HCSS was told to run at Michigan. It crashed and burned, so I don't see him going back to it.

nope,Rodney Williams on a local radio station says" hcss said we will be playing a 4-3 with him as a safety and a 5 back" Compared him to Shamarko in size and speed so he looked up Shamarko and was sold on the orange. Sounds like a turning point in the recruiting process

This. Rich Rod forced Shafer to run the 3-3-5 stack at Michy, same D he employed at WVU. This scheme Syracuse has been running the last four years is Shafer's. Can't see him deviating. It's pretty multiple anyway.

What about Malcolm Howard?

2014 Hunterdon Central (NJ) OLB Jason Cabinda added a Syracuse offer today and says he's "beyond excited" about it

I really like how physical he is. Smart and tough, he is the kind of player who might play early in his career.

Hunterdon Central has won 3 state titles in football and they have one of the most lacrosse programs in the state. Jason won't be the first Hunterdon Central grad who attended Syracuse. Vera Farmiga, SU class of 1995, is also a Hunterdon Grad. Emma Bell, who played Amy in the first season of The Walking Dead, also attended Hunterdon.

Malcolm Howard is a JUCO.

Thanks I knew that, I just misread the post. Thought we were looking at LBs brought in last year regardless of class. My bad.

since he's not rated anyone want to guess where rovals rates Cabinda? i'll go out on a limb and say 3 stars.

It is so sweet seeing 2 on the board from Jersey! Great job to the coaching staff. Win back NJ and we are going someplace.

Where we get our players doesn't matter if they can play. Knew we'd see something like this.

Agreed and we are never going to win back NJ either. A couple middle of the road kids every year should be the future expectation. It'll be monumental if we can get the occasional upper echelon NJ kid again.

Have to agree. Maybe a legacy kid or coaching staff connection.

So are we done at linebacker now? Seems like 4 is a good number.

LB's and TE's make the best special team players IMO. And we all know we need to improve special teams.

You called it, and usual have good information for all of us!

Rvls upgraded Cabinda's rating to a 2 star and a 5.4

- pretty weak.
