Class of 2014 OLB Jason Cabinda (NJ) Offered "beyond excited"

Rvls upgraded Cabinda's rating to a 2 star and a 5.4

- pretty weak.
If he were a BC commit he'd be a 3-star, 5.7 level type guy that would morph into a 5.8-5.9 4-star recruit by season's end.

And to think, he was only a commitment to BC away from being a 5.5 rated three star.
^^^^^Sorry about stepping on your post...I never got to page six before responding to Phat!^^^^

Bump...

Saw on the penn st. board that they are reaching out to Jason trying to flip him since their LB has decommitted and flipped to Mich..Hope the staff stays in contact with our current committs

Surprising since he's only a two star j/k

Franklin has been mentioned as well on their forums

I know nothing about Cabinda other than I like his potential ... hope he sticks but would not be surprised to see a big push from the nit wits

I think this is key. Franklin seems locked in from everything I've seen about him, and PSU is close to their limit, but it worries me about the in-state tuition thing and getting around the sanction that way.

I am not worried about Franklin at all. Cabinda seems pretty solid too, but you never know. Definitely another reason(added to an already long list) to smoke them in a couple of weeks. Hopefully Cabinda realizes that O'Brien is going to the NFL no matter what he is saying.

The higher quality recruits the harder the competition will be for them...the battle for the signing deadline in Feb will have to be fought the whole way through and I'm sure the staff is well aware of this.

i kind of like how PSU is targeting our LB recruits. It's going to happen when you sign quality players. Now we just have to keep them.

It also should be noted he doesn't even have an offer yet, just sniffing around, gauging interested, waiting for SR film

Interestingly enough, IIRC Coach Marrone took a very firm stance when it came to "vulturing" Penn State recruits during the open window following their sanctions. Did it, at least in part, as a courtesy to O'Brien.

Obviously the situation is a little different because Cabinda is not yet enrolled at SU and Marrone is with the Bills. Interesting to see that there appears to be no courtesy extended going the other way by Penn State.

I thought we were interested in that RB that ended up staying?

At the least I think they were not overtly going after players...unlike Other schools that had the whole coaching staff show up on campus (Illinois I believe).

i think it was Marrone was going to contact O'Brein before attempting to go after a player?

So, what's better - the current instant information age or the old days when signing day was like Christmas?
