on howard

I'm not blaming the players.

Our offense is simple to defend, to put it mildly.

JB is running Battle, Frank and Oshae into the ground. I'll be shocked if one of them doesn't end up with an injury soon.

Goes both ways. It’s easy to defend and we’re limited in what we can do because of the players. We don’t have enough shooters, passers, ball handlers, depth or inside scorers(zero of those). Only so much you can do. They’ve gotta hustle and scrap and today they didn’t.

hes more to blame than howard. by far.

I watched it several times. Frank was closer and should have had that rebound. Likely would have gotten fouled over the back as well but we'll never know because he just stopped.

Battle's play was terrible as well. Should have gotten that ball. And never should have dropped it in the first place.

I frickin' hate the give it to Battle to end the game ISO all the way play. It sucks. And it's lost us two games in a row.

They have a first round draft pick this year and another player that will be drafted in Oshae at some point.

You'll never have a perfect team in college.

Our coach is in the HoF. Figure it out.

Missing shots is one thing, jogging back on defense and watching as their guy gets the game winning hoop simply by running hard is another.

Some players have it and some don’t. A player that would do that simply doesn’t have it. There’s no situational awareness. See dribbling in the middle of the court and getting it knocked away yet again for another example. See shooting the half courter a dribble too early.

I don’t think he intended to “give up” or “quit” or be lazy on the play, I think he simply lacks b-ball IQ/awareness and got caught in the moment watching.

Agree. And things happened fast because it should NEVER have happened.

Frank is legit the only person on this team who can do anything on offense besides ISO or spaz out if they don't have a wide open dunk.

I could care less if Frank laid down at midcourt and took a nap as Battle turned it over with 5 seconds left...at least he can perform more than one component of offensive basketball.

If there is anyone who doesn't deserve a blame thread after today, it's Frank.

On that note, I'd like to see Washington check into game when it's not due to a desperate situation. It might just turn out a little better
.

Totally agree. Set him up for at least mild success and growth opportunity.

No. They do not have to play the whole game.

There is a reason why it's just us with three P5 players in the top four of P5 MPG.

It's not normal.
We have 3 players that can score. That's it. They will play the whole game. Get used to it

Three players don't all have to play at the same time. Mix up lineups. Get each guy a blow.

Not rocket science.

No they don’t(IMO and in most projections I’ve seen). And O’Shea is not good yet. Wouldn’t start for any of our 2009-2017 teams. Neither would anyone else, except for Battle.

Least talented SU team I’ve seen in my lifetime and it’s not close. Way too young and the young guys are the types that should be good as Juniors-Seniors, but they’re not good now.

only reason i say marek is more to blame is because hes on the court to do the dirty work. hustle, dive, scratch and claw and play 100% on every possesion. frank is the pg and plays 40 minutes every game, i give him a pass.

dolezaj got some explaining to do.

It's like, Joe Torre was an incredible manager. He just could not develop a bullpen. So he rode whoever it was he trusted into the ground. Season after season.

I swear it's the same with Boeheim. He's God's gift to Syracuse in my book, but he can't develop a bench. He'll ride or die with his starters. I know, I know, guys aren't ready.

It's just they're never ready.

I'd love to say it's the sanctions, but there's a choice he's made at play too.

There's no way I'm putting this on Frank.

OB was 3-15 from the floor. His anemic offense game after game after game is killing us. Marek and Moyer were 0-4 combined. Our rebounding was incomprehensibly bad by our big men.
OB's offensive game is a work in progress. But he did have 11 rebs and was our only player getting any.

We'll have to disagree across the board.

Oshae is more talented than Battle from an NBA bball standpoint and Battle is getting drafted.

They both did the same thing. They both are equally to blame.

How long have you been watching JB coach? He is going to play guys the entire game if he doesn't trust their backups. Mike G and Cooney never came off the floor a couple years ago either

JB is riding or dying with TB and FH. It's that simple.

He didn't hustle. He sauntered back. Ive watched it a bunch of times. Jogging isn't hustling.

I will never watch that play again. Lack of hustle is the one thing I absolutely won't tolerate. But that's what I saw live. I'm in a freaking wheelchair and I'll go out there and at least try hard.

I rather not go for too long with only two players who can score. It is what it is, at least at this point in the season.

But this loss was squarely the result of inexplicably poor rebounding at both ends against an undermanned team.

Oshae has about as much shot in the NBA as Oshea's big adventure dude. He is one of the weakest finishers from the forward position we've ever had here. He misses 5 foot bunnies by ten feet. The backboards are in need of repair from his grenades

Just because he chooses to do something doesn't make it right.

He's not above criticism and he's been wrong plenty of times.

There is no reason two of the three can't play at the same time with spot backfill from our guys.
