Orange Out on Friday vs Louisville

Uniforms and NYC, in no particular order, the two things that weaken this board the most. And I just went ahead and mentioned both in one post.

At this point I'd even rather read about how we need to fire the staff because we lost to #8 Notre Dame by 2 TDs.

My favorite topic is complaints about why more locals/students/fill-in-the-blank don't come to games, but that's just me

How about...win the game?

CAN WE WIN THE GAME????

Instead of gimmicks to fill the dome and endless threads about fukin jersey colors...WIN THE GAME. You play to WIN THE GAME.

An Orange Out promotion at a Syracuse University Orange game is about as embarrassing as rushing the field for a win over Buffalo.

Having said that, we should have totally rushed the field after beating UB in either 2005 or 2007. I mean, if you're only going to win 1 home game, might as well get your money's worth.

well, they shouldve moved 1 to Giants Stadium...

I can't be there but if I was, like the MD game, I wouldn't have worn orange. It's not the football teams color anymore, so why wear it? Soccer and basketball, sure. Even if the team wears orange on Friday, big deal. It's a one off. Let them start wearing the Orange pants and helmet again, then expect fans to do the same.

Have a grey out in the dome...
I say do it one better, a "black out" with the "grey out". One low the other high. I'll be making a fashion statement that NIKE can love...Oy ve...

Red and Black, after all it's free form, ain't it?

You could pay people at the door to show up in Orange, and use every source of media to promote it, for a year... And some d bag would still show up in a green sweater.

SU Athletics spokesman Joe Giansante tells @BrentAxeMedia that the football team will not wear orange uniforms "until they are ready to go."

I appreciate the update. Now I know what my choice of colors will be for "Orange-Out" Friday. Sadly, Orange is out. I will wear a color that all the recruits supposedly like. SU logo will still be prominent.

Maybe I will dye my greying hair orange.

Joe also said on the radio that Nike knows more about the targeted recruiting demographic than anyone in the world. Which is correct.

He also said that Uni's are for the players. Which is correct.

He also said Melo, D.Coleman, Nassib, Bromley, etc. all loved them. Raved about them.

Not sure what's left. It's selfish to think uni's are for fans. I'm al for tradition - but also want to see the program take chances and try to promote itself as new and different. The prevailing thought associated with our old uni's for most of the under 30 crowd is Grob and losing and the BE. It's easy to only see through your 50 year old eyes and not see that the players love them. Or that recruits like them.

So? Did they all say they liked all blue better than orange pants and helmet with the blue jersey? Did they say they wouldn't prefer orange be the pants or jersey on any of the combos? No. And Nike might know styles, but not SU's color.

gotta think these guys when put in the public limelight will only say what they think will be good for their university and alma mater and public perception so I wouldn't take any of that as a big time thumbs up. Heck if some rag asked me I'd say they're the best thing since sliced bread if I thought it would get the program some good PR.

No in the privacy of their friends and on a friendly little Cuse sports message boards, that's where the truth comes out...

Cuse's Fri night uniforms for the Orange Out have been revealed...

I vote for this instead:

Hey! McNabb threw for 381 yards and four TDs that day! If we won, you'd love 'em.

I guess. :noidea:

" Until they are ready to go" ?! What does that mean? It takes longer to make Orange colored uniforms?

Why would the blues, the whites and the gray be 'ready' and not the oranges? I guess they had no plans for orange until there were complaints about it.

Giansante evaded the question throughout the interview, saying things like "Auburn isn't wearing orange uniforms and they had an orange out!". Auburn isn't "The Orange". We are.

This whole new uniform thing has been a dumpster fire.

Yeah. You're so blinded by your opinion being the only opinion that even when people in the demographic say it they must be lying.

We get it. A bunch of people like them. A bunch don't. But the people who actually have to wear them don't count...

Well this makes me feel better. I was going to change my handle. Here were my choices.
- OburgBlue
- OburgGrey
- OburgWhite

I was struggling with which one to pick. Maybe change it weekly, like the unis. Keep up with the times.

My opinion:

I attended 3 of the 4 games.

Nova game, all blue, orange helmets Grade C
I like the helmets and the unis weren't as bad as I thought they'd be, but numbers were nearly impossible to read.

CM game, all white, white helmet. Grade B
The white unis were okay, as I suspected, but I'm not a fan of the white helmets. With any combo. Too bland.

Maryland game, all blue, white helmet. Grade
One of the worst uni combos in SU history. Almost no orange. Hope I never see them again.

Notre Dame game, all grey, orange helmet. Grade A. I thought I might like the grey, and I did. Not a fan of grey duct tape numbers on the hoop unis, but these were sharp up close. Nice off uni.

Still favor the McNabb era unis over anything else. And all blues we worse last year are much better than the new blues.

one thing not mentioned is that the NCAA just changed the rules on uniforms for LAX, by that rule the blue ones would not be allowed anymore. weird to have a uniform rule that does not apply to all sports.

The under 30 demographic likes them for the most part.

The retro jerseys of previous Syracuse teams you guys post are worse...
