OT any bourbon or whiskey drinkers?

I'm a wellers fan
Nice. I think if Kyle comes back we should send him a bottle of Old Grandad. He's gonna get so much hate for being old ha. Not because fanbases care about the "rules" but because they're annoyed they have QB's that can't hit the side of the barn.

McCord isn't "old" as he will be 23 next season which is not old. Day really screwed him by playing him in 5 games, in blowouts when not needed, his freshman year. Hopefully, Day will help McCord due to his mistake.

So, tying this back to the all-important liquor discussion, already in progress…

Wouldn't surprise me if JimBoston also goes by the alias:

Old Mr Boston.

I prefer the Russells Single Barrel (red label) to the 10 year. Big fan of EH Taylor Small batch and Woodford Double Oaked as well.

Got lucky and picked up a Michters 10 year a couple weeks ago, haven't cracked it.
Yep double oaked is really tasty

Found some Dickel 15 year on sale. It has a unique kind of musky taste but it’s pretty good. I can’t seem to find any Blantons around me but I found it on the menu in Pastabilities in downtown Syracuse so enjoyed some there.

I found some Eagle Rare in Florida which is good. Also have a stash of Russell’s 10 and Rare Breed that I’m working on.

Honestly I probably have too many bottles. You get to the point where you’re always hunting for something better but Inalready have around 30 bottles in various stages of emptiness.

I’ve decided that the only bottles I’d spend for right now are Blantons, Pappy, Stagg and Weller. I’ve tried pretty much everything else and if I’m being honest with myself, I have enough lol.

With all the chaos of the holidays (and my daughter turning 2 on Sunday!) I present a favorite of mine this time of year

Maple Sour

Four Roses Single Barrel (1.5oz)
Maple syrup (1oz)
Lemon Juice (1oz)

Combine and shake with ice

Pour over ice, top with ginger ale

Happy holidays all!!!

I usually get a 5 year for anywhere from 600-800, 10 year hit me for 900 the 12 year ran me 1200 this year sometimes I get them for less. I know the guy who runs it so he drops me a hint on a good bid range.
Amazing

Little like Blantons and I can't get on board with the Buffalo Trace but I will buy Eagle Rare whenever I see it. All from same place too.
I will take all your eagle rare

Man, I tried hard this year. Got the wife a pena shirt for Christmas that of course i ordered a youth size, but you think she could of put some effort into getting me something really cool, oh wait.

Can't remember if I posted about it here before, but highly highly recommend buying this bad boy and giving it a try: J.T. Meleck Small Batch Louisiana Rice Whiskey

AFAIK, you can only purchase it in person in Louisiana or online at the link above. It's a relatively cheap whiskey made from rice and it tastes like a beautifully smooth bourbon. I've tried 4 or 5 different variants of their whiskey at this point and they are all delicious but for my personal taste, their cheapest and weakest whiskey is my personal favorite. Those that like it a bit stronger say their dark blue or gold labels are excellent (and I have a bottle of both and do enjoy them as well).

Cracked open a Penelope Straight Bourbon over the holiday. Ive wanted to try it for a while. Very nice pour. I got it on sale and it was certainly worth the price (I think i paid $34)

I'm a fan of pretty much all Penelope offerings. The architect and toasted are each great but closer to $60.

Spent the day shoveling and was rewarded by finding a bottle of Blantons AND an Eagle Rare at a tiny little liquor store I frequent in the central Adirondacks…my wife is not understanding my excitement lol
Where in the ADK’s ?

I have a few cupboards-full of bottles (of all kinds of spirits, not just bourbon) with a couple sips taken out of each. My pattern:
  1. Go to a tasting
  2. Discover/Buy something new I like
  3. Have a taste or two
  4. Put it in the cupboard
  5. Repeat.
