Yep double oaked is really tastyI prefer the Russells Single Barrel (red label) to the 10 year. Big fan of EH Taylor Small batch and Woodford Double Oaked as well.
Got lucky and picked up a Michters 10 year a couple weeks ago, haven't cracked it.
AmazingI usually get a 5 year for anywhere from 600-800, 10 year hit me for 900 the 12 year ran me 1200 this year sometimes I get them for less. I know the guy who runs it so he drops me a hint on a good bid range.
I will take all your eagle rareLittle like Blantons and I can't get on board with the Buffalo Trace but I will buy Eagle Rare whenever I see it. All from same place too.
If you haven't tried it before, try Angel's Envy Rye. It's delicious.Been enjoying Basil Hayden Dark Rye this holiday season…
Absolutely spectacular bottle. Great callIf you haven't tried it before, try Angel's Envy Rye. It's delicious.
Yeah, I'm more of a bourbon guy over rye but their rye is very good.If you haven't tried it before, try Angel's Envy Rye. It's delicious.
I'm a fan of pretty much all Penelope offerings. The architect and toasted are each great but closer to $60.Cracked open a Penelope Straight Bourbon over the holiday. Ive wanted to try it for a while. Very nice pour. I got it on sale and it was certainly worth the price (I think i paid $34)
In St. Maarten yesterday. Scored 2 bottles of 10yr Eagle Rare for 40$ each. 2 1 liter Buffalo Trace for 26$ each. And 2 Blantons for 75$ each. Pretty happy with that

I loved that tour
Where in the ADK’s ?Spent the day shoveling and was rewarded by finding a bottle of Blantons AND an Eagle Rare at a tiny little liquor store I frequent in the central Adirondacks…my wife is not understanding my excitement lol
I have a few cupboards-full of bottles (of all kinds of spirits, not just bourbon) with a couple sips taken out of each. My pattern:Found some Dickel 15 year on sale. It has a unique kind of musky taste but it’s pretty good. I can’t seem to find any Blantons around me but I found it on the menu in Pastabilities in downtown Syracuse so enjoyed some there.
I found some Eagle Rare in Florida which is good. Also have a stash of Russell’s 10 and Rare Breed that I’m working on.
Honestly I probably have too many bottles. You get to the point where you’re always hunting for something better but Inalready have around 30 bottles in various stages of emptiness.
I’ve decided that the only bottles I’d spend for right now are Blantons, Pappy, Stagg and Weller. I’ve tried pretty much everything else and if I’m being honest with myself, I have enough lol.
Wife and I drove from DC to KC to watch the Bills hopefully head to the Super Bowl. So while depressed the day after, we decided to take the south route home and spent a few days on the bourbon trail to make ourselves feel slightly less miserable.I loved that tour
Speaking of tastings, I’m heading to Frankfort and Louisville for 5 days in March. Gonna hit up BT of course as well as Peerless and Bardstown. And also gonna thief at another distillery. Should be fun. Gonna have to make a promise to myself not to go crazy with purchases. But there are three at BT I’m after that I know of for sure.I have a few cupboards-full of bottles (of all kinds of spirits, not just bourbon) with a couple sips taken out of each. My pattern:
- Go to a tasting
- Discover/Buy something new I like
- Have a taste or two
- Put it in the cupboard
- Repeat.

It's been a couple years but when I visited BT, they didn't have much for sale. I hope you do better.Speaking of tastings, I’m heading to Frankfort and Louisville for 5 days in March.
