Our Starting Backcourt

Has a combined PER of of 17.6 and offensive Box +/- of 18.3. Yes, somehow they have been much worse on offense than defense.

Both JJ and Bell have been really bad so far. Like worse than last year bad. While we had our doubts about it getting better I didn’t have regression in the BINGO card.

Carlos is limited and without having the talent needed next to him- he’s looking as about you would expect.

I don’t understand what the staff was seeing when putting this team together now seeing the product for ourselves. If they are going to get better it has to start with Bell and JJ. I mean you could start Davis and Moore and go a different direction but that’s not going to correct the issues over the whole season.

With this bunch, who starts is not going to make a ton of difference. There are no silver bullets. Bell, Carlos and JJ are in the rotation and we have to live with what they can do. We can only hope they work harder on defense.

Moore is going to earn and get his minutes as he did last night. He is one of the few positives in these early games.

Davis off the bench has out-performed Freeman, but both will play, and any hope for this team depends on the progress Freeman is able to make. He needs to take his game inside and figure out how to finish against defenders closer to his own size. Might take a while. Freeman is still projected as a late first round draft pick on some lists -- hard to see how that can be realistic.

Did either improve much after their first year? They both had some great games last year, but other than those games they were beyond awful. I'm more shocked people expected so much improvement from them.

JJ is the problem. Carlos has been bad and Moore will be up and down, but this team needs JJ to be really good and he just isn't. He is the worst defender I have ever seen here, and his passing and handle (especially going left) are not good. He will score on the right and he will make shots but he is going to get roasted on D over and over.

Davis definitely out-performed Freeman in the game vs. Lemoyne. But its not like Freeman was bad in that game. He had a double double (just didn't shoot well) in his first college game.

In last nights game I wouldn't say Davis necessarily out-performed Freeman. In my opinion neither of them really stood out as having a 'good' game. Davis was active on the offensive glass but didn't do much with those rebounds. Freeman was limited to only 16 minutes. Felt he should have got a few more minutes than that.

Nobody needs to provide help defense on Carlos- that’s a problem. Especially for Bell.

He looked really comfortable in exhibition game 1( for obvious reasons) but since then he really has looked uncomfortable when having to get a bucket off the bounce.

I actually feel bad for him a little he is at a level he shouldn't be at. Hopefully, he can find a way to be productive during the course of the year but he is currently lost on both sides of the ball.

Yep, can’t finish.

We ended the game having him stand in the corner like a 3 pts shooter. What’s the point. Bring if Moore or Taylor if you are doing to do that

Hed be fine for 10-15 mins. 30plus is insane

To be fair with what he showed so far in actual games I am not even sure 10-15 minutes are fine. I mean it would be better but he just looks like he is playing at too high of a level. He has looked super slow and unathletic against the LeMoyne and Colgate guards.
