Parrish gabs Syracuse and Kentucky

Teague is simply not that good and UK has no real back up pg options. One bad game from him and they lose in the tourny. Davis, Gilcrist and Lamb are excellent players. Jones is vastly over rated IMO and they have a shot bench.

Have to agree with him to some extend. The UK roster is loaded with future NBA players. Look at their roster: Darius Miller, Terence Jones, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Doron Lamb, Anthony Davis, Marquis Teague, Kyle Wiltjer.. Calimari imo, will come under some heat if he does not win the title this year! Having the best starting five does not in any way shape or form mean they have the best team, I think we would fare pretty well against them. Zone will take away a good chunk of their offense.

I agree that the major issue with UK is that they have a short bench. I think the biggest issue is that they are front loaded with salaries and can't find enough role players to allow them to have a deep bench and make it under the salary cap.:(

Thanks for the laugh! Well done.

Salary cap?

I love this team and think we have as good a shot as anybody to win the damn thing. That said, why do people get so upset when somebody has a different opinion? I'd rather not get crowned and fawned over in January.

I get pissed off when someone (douchebag Gottlieb for example) says we don't deserve to be #1 RIGHT NOW. The ranking right now has nothing to do with being the best team, its all about your performance at this point in time. An undefeated team with #1 SOS and #1 RPI should have an undisputed #1 ranking.

Does Baylor have no claim to being #1?

Better talent? Sure, I'd probably go with UK.

Better team? I'm going with Syracuse.

Luckily for us, teams are the ones that seem to win National Championships. Talented teams, for sure, but you have to be a team first.

Also, UK really isn't road tested yet (L @ Indiana, W @ Auburn). They were a really bad road team last year. I'm surprised none of the talking heads have brought this point up.

I'm like reading this half paying attention thinking did I switch to an NBA thread, then I lol, thanks for that, still smiling!

Murray State coach Steve Prohm said senior forward Ivan Aska (broken right hand) won’t play Thursday (Jacksonville State) and Saturday (Tennessee Tech) after being checked by a doctor Wednesday. Aska, who leads the undefeated Racers with six rebounds a game, missed the past two games. Prohm said it may be 2-to-4 weeks before Aska is back in the lineup.

On another note why is Phil Martelli being such a Richard?

UAB coach Mike Davis is convinced that Saint Joseph’s coach Phil Martelli is the only one holding up Todd O'Brien's eligibility. SI.com reported O’Brien’s latest waiver attempt with the NCAA was rejected on Friday. O’Brien, a reserve at Saint Joe’s last season, transferred after he graduated and wanted to play his final year of eligibility immediately as a grad student at UAB. But the waiver was rejected. The NCAA told ESPN.com that St. Joe’s not supporting his case was one of the factors. O’Brien has been practicing with the Blazers but can’t play. Martelli won’t return messages to explain his decision to withhold an endorsement of O’Brien’s transfer.

Outside of UK fans, most college basketball fans would like to see that team of 1-year mercenaries fall short to discredit Cal's "business model".

Have you seen the new basketball court that's being installed at Rupp? It kind of reminds of the new Oregon court...

Why blame Cal? The blame should be on the NBA for having a stupid rule. If they had the old rule, guys like Wall, Davis, and Knight (among others) never would have stepped foot on a college campus. And if there was a two year limit, there wouldn't be as much outcry that they are "mercenaries."

I like SU head to head with UK . . . as you said, better overall team, better concept, better coach. Kentucky (and all the other BCS thoroughbreds) will take the challenge, try to run with the Orange, and pay for it when they make mistakes that the best transition offense in the nation converts to easy points

my concern all along has been all the ankle biters lurking in the rounds of 32 and 16. teams that know they can't play racehorse basketball, so they take care of the ball, slow it down, and challenge SU to beat them with a half court game.

If SU gets to the Final Four (or the Elite 8, for that matter), they will suddenly become my favorite to win the whole thing, because they will likely be playing other squads of elite players who won't back down from the challenge.

It's getting there that worries me. We're loaded for bear, it's the bugs in the swamp that always get us.
