Again, I saw the entire press conference. Did Shafer come out and try to set the tone of the press coverage? He sure did. Then he answered every question. Not unlike out HOF BB coach, who does it more often and in a more antagonistic manner. Should Shafer have tried to influence the tone of the post game stories, hmm maybe not. But as a reporter you can't let him do that. What I find funny is that some DO reporter wrote a story about how Shafer tried to intimidate reporters and dodged questions. Here's the question I have for that reporter? Where were the follow up questions to the answers you didn't like / respect. Everyone of the kiddie corps listened to his answers and then moved on to the next subject. Not a single follow up to a question that they thought was dodged. If you think he's avoiding a subject, ask it a different way, press him on it. But don't walk away and then write an article how he didn't answer your questions when you didn't ask any follow ups. He won the press conference and because you realized you lost, you wrote about how you lost the information battle at the presser and gnat was Shafers fault? Holy cow. Then he gets the rest of the kiddie corps to chime in on how that was a great article. Ugh.
