Carey is probably in a weird position because he’s not the modern nba big he’s a traditional. He’s projected late first round but unless he develops his outside shot and suddenly moves better he’s never going to fit into what NBA teams want.

We’d probably redshirt Edwards and JBA would get no PT. But Sidibe and Tape would be gone next year while JBA and Edwards will be sophomores
Edwards has an incredibly high ceiling. Looking forward to seeing what he can do once he bulks up and learns to play the center position in the zone.

Rudy Gobert was the 27th pick in the draft. It's all about working hard.

I’d be stoked if we got Tape, but learning the zone is always tricky for a player in his first year in the system (remember Andrew White and John Gillon), and the center spot is the hardest position to learn. Will he be able to overcome that learning curve? Does Columbia play any 2-3 zone? It def helps that Autry and Griffin coached him on that tour last summer, so they should have a good idea if he can make the transition, but I’m cautious on that point. Also excited to see what Sidibe can do as a senior considering how well he played his last 5 games.

27th in the draft, 1st with COVID-19.
Fortunately because of him many people started taking it seriously, otherwise who knows how many would have been affected if sports weren't cancelled. I tried working Patrick Tape into that sentence but at least we know he wasn't affected.

Also -- heaven forbid -- but sometimes injuries happen unexpectedly. We've gotten bit by that bug [Chukwu, Coleman, Sidibe, Braswell, etc.] in recent years.

Not suggesting that something WILL occur, but you never know. And because of that, having qualified / experienced depth is a good thing.

Best thing if we get Tape is that we can keep Quincy and Marek at the forwards and still have a center with Size. Edwards can RS like he needs to and we still have a 3rd center and wont have to push Marek back to center cause we have no options.

Still the RS kid is gonna be a better backup center option than Edwards who was not ready was.

If he’s announcing today there’s no way he’s recommitting to Duke

Edwards could be our best big next year. Twenty more pounds can make a big difference.
I agree. He could probably add 5-10 lbs by just not cutting his hair or finger and toe nails.
