Williams is a RS Covid freshman (so year 3). Mikel Jones is a Covid sophomore (also year 3).

If we can't get a better coach than Dino Babers we should get out of big time football. The idea that nobody will want this job is crazy. Coaches are ego maniacs. Someone will sign up. Keeping Dino because we can't get anyone else is insane.

If the decision is to replace Babers, fine. But not with any ****-ball with a pulse.

I am by no means an expert; I just don't see anyone else better than Babers that we actually have a chance at snagging.

This is a very fair take and I appreciate the reality of getting a better coach.

I hold no ill will towards Dino. He doesn't deserve it with the way he represents the program. He's all class. But results will be at the forefront if this season goes sideways. The AD has to weigh a program that is completely dislodged from any sense of buzz and positive momentum if we finish with 3-4 wins. It may be ultimately a case of "well Dino is better than disrupting the mediocre status quo". To me how we've gotten to that point is distressing.

The hope from my end is we find 3 wins down the stretch, get to a bowl and start to build on that. I think Tucker/Shrader are enjoyment from a viewership perspective. You can sell those guys on what they bring every Saturday. I felt this with Flutie in the 80s. He was fun and then made BC really really good his senior year. Here's hoping Dino becomes our Cowboy Jack or even Dick Mac but you need to show real competitiveness and success in the conference play. Just beating MAC and Liberty teams is to be frank, not what Syracuse should be.
