From the surface, looks like a big who can shoot from the outside but does not have rebounding skills or indications. Hopefully, I am wrong and brings more defined skills to the team.

I was not wrong about Chris Bell four years ago when he was recruited and I said that he only brought shooting skills and nothing else to the table.

That's the way we have to look at the roster. Nobody is playing 40 minutes at one position. There will be different groups on the floor for different situations.

Except George. Which is what it should be for 35. George needs to run the offense no matter who's on the court with him. Ideally we get some run with Fennell but not when we're struggling.

I think if White is so good he forces his way into the starting lineup then Freeman and White are the forwards and Kingz comes off the bench.

I can see that. That would be peak athleticism.

White’s biggest issue is he needs to get bigger and stronger. He’s going to get pushed around inside. Non scorer, except dunking. Defensively, he’s going to be ok.

im not a huge fan of the idea of freeman at center...buuut he would be a nightmare matchup on offense for most centers...i dont think many centers could stop him from scoring

He would be foul prone at the 5. If you want him in the game for 35 minutes, don't expose him defensively there.

That and at 6-9 220 he’s not a stick figure like dirty was.

A bunch of 6’9” guys who can double down in the post and then rotate out can be very effective. It looks like SU is going to have a bunch of guys that fit this scenario. Quick, athletic guys who can jump, block shots and attack the rim. I’ll take quickness over size any day of the week. Plus, how many seven footers are out there that are actually really good low post players. Most are just rollers and dunkers.

They have a formula optimized for success: A couple bigs 6-8 235 +/-, three 40+% shooters, and dawgs on defense.

After Deng DON’T expect any flashy transfers. Almost all have already signed elsewhere already anyway.

Expect a young transfer or two that will be going into their Sophmore year, maybe a JUCO kid or an international kid. Kids that will have multiple years but likely won’t contribute much this year

I don't see how Autry is trying to imitate Huston. There is a little more to doing that than having a 6'9 center.

What I think they are trying to do is find the perfect match for Freeman.

Freeman has the potential to be an elite scorer, so pairing him with another big who needs the ball won't work. Better a dunker who gets garbage baskets.

Freeman isn't a good defender and should be guarding the other team's worst scoring big man. A lot of the time that's going to be a center. If you pair Freeman with a traditional 7 foot lumbering shot blocker, Freeman is going to have to guard the power forward even if that guy is a Cooper Flagg type great scorer. If we have someone next to Freeman who is big enough to guard centers but mobil enough to guard power forwards, we can do a better job of hiding Freeman based on match ups.

Time will tell if it works or not, but it seems clear to me they have a plan, they know what they want and are going out and getting it. Can't ask for more than that at this time of year.

Freeman is a plus rebounder, he was improving as a defender and hopefully as a shot blocker with his length and leaping ability. Also think was the combo of having Eddie, Bell, Jaquan that hurt the abiltiy for others to defend. It’s the sum of the parts to make a complete defense, not always an individual.
