Class of 2022 PF Kyle Filipowski (MA) Offered

Obviously neither of the guys with the crystal balls got the memo,( Coach K has retired). He was Duke basketball, the year he took off with a bad back they were something like 9-18. Does anyone think the new coach is going to get all the calls K always got which helped win games?
Gotta wonder if it’s a knee jerk reaction:
“Gee, Duke offered? He’s going there”!
Seems like they’re just hedging their bets.

Just a guess, but I think when Duke offers, many of the recruitniks just assume the BDevils will get their man.

there are now 3 CB's for Duke. I am worried. This is the guy I wanted most.
Me too. Flip was the biggest potential difference-maker in this class...by far. As I said before, this is the type of hyper skilled big that always seems to land at Duke, UNC, or Kentucky.

any port in a storm. I will take anything positive here. What has scared me from day 1 is that his AAU coach is the same jerk that helped push Jordan Tucker to Duke.
He’s literally a relative of Coach K. I think a nephew. That was always going to be an issue as it was for Tucker.
it just comes down to whether the player believes what he is hearing and ignores examples such as Tucker, Duval, Semi Ojeleye, Silent G and the other members of ”the brotherhood” he has recruited over.

We all had a feeling this would happen but hopefully he won’t commit and think about it

Yeah, lets hope he remembers those guys!! Definitely not the 15 guys they have had drafted in the last 5 years compared to our 4...

And, yes, that’s the connection.

Honestly I think we miss on DC/Flip...I wouldn't be surprised to see us start looking elsewhere. Still lots of great options and with the transfer craziness there will be tons of kids available. Still kinda sucks putting in the work to come up a tad short. (Not saying its over here but I've always had the feeling it might not work out how we all hoped)

I'm not ready to call this one.

Yeah, Duke's interested. Good programs will recruit good players. Usually if a crootment takes a long time it doesn't work out in our favor, but in this case, letting things marinate could be big for us. He's got a friend in our program now that Taylor's coming. Getting a Duke offer is exciting, but if he doesn't jump on it right away we've got a lot of time to sell the vision, and it's a good one. He'd be featured and JB has a history of making do-it-all forwards shine.

Yea, I think if this goes on longer then its better for us. Duke will continue recruiting some of the high end guys they're in the running for and we will continue to make Flip our #1 priority. Sometimes it backfires and sometimes it doesn't. Hopefully he doesn't get the itch to commit to them soon.

I think that's a good point. Duke's gonna do the Duke thing and try and land burger boys. We're a bit more specific in our approach. Flip's a priority for us. He may or may not be a big priority for Duke, and even if he is, they're going to press on other top flight guys.

Let's see how good North Carolina, and, Duke are without Roy and K. Last time North Carolina replaced a legend it didn't work out well. Duke has never had to replace a legend until now. They probably will have problems.

And as I recall Tucker was a syracuse lean until he visited Duke. Then pffft
Actually, it looked like he was going to Georgia Tech before he committed to Duke.

This is an incredibly stupid argument... If they did the draft straight out of high school, Duke would have had more guys drafted and Syracuse less. Duke does little to get guys drafted, they just successfully recruit guys who will be drafted. Keeping it like it's a scorecard isn't reflective of anything other than respective quality of recruiting. If you only recruit top 30 players, realistically every single guy should get drafted in one of the two rounds. If you want to compare, look at % of top50 players drafted and % of lower ranked recruits drafted. I would get Syracuse does better in both categories.
