Class of 2020 PF Rashaun Agee (IL) Portal to Texas A&M

Probably not much. He’s not a point guard nor a 3 point expert, so I think George and Kingz still start.
The question was whether Agee starts instead of Kyle. Kyle was very clear he welcomes competition when he committed, and many of us saw Kyle as part of a two headed center anyway.

We have no evidence Agee is even being recruited, though.

Agee is a much better shooter and a bit better of a rebounder than Kyle. I guess Red could go offense/defense with the pair. In reality, Agee pushes Kyle to second string, and Souare into the depth position we’d probably prefer for him.

This is how I see it too…the key point you mention, there is no evidence Agee is even being recruited…besides a recent, mutual follow with Alex Kline. Probably need more evidence than just that to confirm Syracuse is in the mix.

It’s all speculation but would be a nice addition to this roster and would give a lot of lineup flexibility.

Dooms was Andre Hawkins when Andre was in diapers.

Half the board probably doesn't even remember Andre Hawkins.
Neither of them could get off the floor, Mike Lee, and Mark Wadach at 6-3, and 6-2 were the guys Joel used that call on.

You think Agee would be a 5? He’s been listed all the way down to 6’5 before. Anywhere from 6’5 to 6’8. Musselman said he was 6’6. He’s close to Desmond Claude’s height and he’s listed at 6’6.
I think he could probably play a small ball 5. He has long arms and moves well. Good rebounder.
He can shoot decent from 3. He’s probably best as a stretch 4. A lot like Freeman.

That being said I think he would be a great asset wherever he plays on the court.

You’re probably right. I looked at his listed height and weight and figured he would be logical for the middle. I haven’t done due diligence at all.

I am choosing not to look into it… I got sucked into Valencia and Deng before commitments, it’s annoying when I spend time researching a player and they go elsewhere. I’m trying not to do that again…

At least the first two guys visited and there were hints that their commitments were imminent from people who are close to the program. Agee is not connected other than the vague “follow metric.”

Well here is some possible good news on Agee front. Ruling here from NJ district court on JUCO eligibility of football player, where player in question seems to rely on the same exact facts as Agee's eligibility case. NCAA may challenge this ruling but player has been granted eligibility and has transferred to Rutgers.

IMHO, something to consider, is that Sadiq White could/should get some minutes at the 5.

"White is one of the most explosive athletes in the national class. He is super bouncy, able to play up at the top of the box, and quick with his second (and third) bounces. He is not only an elite lob threat, but the type of finisher who can immediately change the momentum of the game with a highlight dunk.

Beyond his leaping ability, White is also a versatile athlete. He moves with pace and force, covering the court and playing through contact with increasing frequency. Physically, he has the length to match his athleticism with a nearly 7-foot wingspan and 8-foot-11 standing reach. He has broad shoulders, a sturdy base in his lower body, and continues to fill-out his wiry frame."

And that was a year ago. It could be that by the time he plays in November, he could be 6'10", maybe 210-215. That's a college freshman center, especially with that wingspan and defensive bias. I see him as a somewhat more polished, better rated Conrad MacRae, at least eventually.

I think this is a player we want on the court as much as possible. While I like Kyle's physicality, I honestly don't expect that much from him. I think he's a smaller Naheem in that sense.

Rashaun Agee, a power forward from USC, might be a guy to keep an eye on, as he recently was followed by Alex Kline, and he then followed Alex Kline back. Could this be related to any previous interest in Desmond Claude? A package deal? Either way, even just by himself, he seems to have some really nice stats from last year at USC.

If you double that for 40 minutes(which I realize, he won't be playing those minutes anywhere, just to show his efficiency) he would average 19pts, 9 reb, 2 assists, 1.6 blocks, 1.4 steals, all while shooting 39% from 3pt and 55% from field. His Evan Miya BPR is 3.19, which would be second best(obviously not counting freshman), to Nate Kingz. He did all this vs Big Ten level competition. He also like a number of our players worked his way up from jr college/no division 1 offers to major conference contributor. I believe he would have at least 1 year of eligibility remaining.

Here are his highlights:

I really like this guy. Yes, please! 6-8 230, but plays like a man. Physical, against top competition, and that 3 point shooting? Yikes! I would take this guy over the last couple we have picked up. Looks like a fine player!

There will be room for this guy, trust me. He might not start, but he will play 20 minutes on this team. He's got toughness, which we are lacking.

We found 24 minutes a game last year for Jyare Davis, even though he wasn't a starter. I'm sure we could find enough minutes for this guy. Great piece!

The roster this year is significantly better than last year. Davis doesn’t play at all if he were on next year’s roster. (At least not without four injuries/illnesses)

I agree, Agee definitely is in our top 7, maybe even a starter, if he chose to come here.

This guy looks like he plays bigger than 6’7”-8”. Reminds me of Thomas Bryant.

If you bring this kid in the biggest loser is Souare. I have to think he wants to start though so he would push Kyle out of the starting lineup. Unless he is selfless or we can overpay him for a lesser role the math doesn’t add up here for a number of reasons despite loving his game and wanting him here.

I agree with Souare being the biggest loser, as far as playing time goes, in that situation but Souare has multiple years of eligibility left. I think he got thrown into more minutes than anticipated at Georgia Tech last year due to all of their injuries. Next year he could develop his game & strengthen without pressure of having to produce, and also, at the same time, provide insurance to us if someone gets in foul trouble/injured/plays poorly/gives no defensive effort/etc. If he develops over the next year to our liking, and he likes being here, then perhaps the following year or years he could earn starter or regular minutes, as Agee will be gone/out of eligibility.

Kyle would still start at center, but Agee would likely be the first big off the bench.
