Class of 2020 PF Rashaun Agee (IL) Portal to Texas A&M

Agee is not a center whatsoever. He’s 6’7” and averaged 4 rpg.

Lots of fans here sleeping on Kyle. He was a four star highly sought after player into the portal last season. He barely played because Cronin hates centers.

Not sleeping on Kyle either, both can get and deserve good minutes but Agee seems to be the better all around proven player. Agee, is listed at 6'8, and regardless of his size he WAS used as a center at USC last year. He had 4.5 rebounds, but that was in only 20 minutes, which would be 6.75 in 30, or 9 in 40. He had 9.9 rebounds in 27 minutes at Bowling Green the previous year. His rebounds per minute were higher ANY year Kyle had at either UCLA or South Dakota St and he did this at the P4 level. And this is not even mentioning his three pt %, blocks, steals, points and other stats he accumulated in only 20 minutes playing center at a P4 school.

We had a center like Agee this year and we saw how that worked out. Zero rim protection. Kyle has put up numbers in the NCAA tournament against Iowa State. Agee is not going to provide any rim protection whatsoever and he’s a downgrade as an athlete.

He's not going to play the whole game at center, if we are lucky enough to get him. Probably 3 or 4 guys are going to play center in most games, depending on defenses and matchups. He's only one piece of the puzzle, and he has skills other guys don't have.

No, Eddie didn't play defense. Agee played good enough defense that USC played him as one of their centers, just like Syracuse did with Maliq Brown.

We have four guys who can play both the four or five not even counting Betsy who can also play the four. We don’t need another center. We have twelve roster spots and they all want to play. Good luck finding enough court time for what we already have.
And if our one legit center gets hurt, and with SU's history of centers and injuries...

USC was as bad as we were.

Betsy is a 2 possibly a 3. In high school and at Cincinatti, he played basically a 2. In high school, he wanted to be a 2.

I know that he has beefed up But he has not shown any forward skills and did not rebound. He looks like a 3 and D replacement for Chris Bell with a little more mobility and the ability to be the ball on the floor and get to the basket than Chris did. He has offensive potential but has not shown any defensive ability.

Fingers crossed that his potential comes to the surface. Consistency will be the issue. Right now, it is possible that he is a better scorer than Bell.

Betsy said that he will play the three and some four. That’s what the coaching staff told him. The extra twenty pounds has changed the way he might be used.

You do realize Agee is not as good as Maliq Brown, right?

Who's to say? Maliq only averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds a game for his career, and he did play an awful lot of minutes for us. Agee is clearly a better 3 point shooter, and is physically stronger as a low post defender.

You do realize that Brown is quite literally one of the top defenders in college ball, right??

I like this!

Brown is so under appreciated by many who just look at stats and do not realize how much he impacts the game on both sides of the ball. He is a coach’s dream.

Agreed.

It’s ironic that articles talking about Duke’s roster and starters next year, hardly ever talk about Malik. He’s not shinny enough because of his numbers. Ask their coaches and they‘ll say how important he is.

I know nothing but with a roster of 12 players all needing time why would any one come to Cuse unless they recruit over players … which would not go over well with those guys (unless they came knowing that- which I doubt).

The Instagram connection with Alex Kline no longer exists….

Eddie played defense but only on his man - no help, rotational nor rim protection defense. He kept himself out of foul trouble and on the floor, made himself a force on the boards but wasn’t a factor on team defense for teammates who had issues keeping their opponent in front of them and opponents who schemed to require our center to move and help on defense on drives to the basket.
