Therein lies the problem and disparity.

Only if you’re someone that doesn’t understand context and misconstrues something.

almost every guy in that picture was an all league guard. Billy wasn't. Great player for us, when he played, but not in that picture.
They actually all made all league teams at least once.

Yup, but if Cole decided to come back we would have no open scholarships for next season (this assumes everyone is coming back and no transfers, would assume if people were transferring they would have announced by now).
Not necessarily. Sometimes players make their decisions pending other decisions they have no control over, player A may leave if player B stays, but if player B leaves A will stay, sometimes they will look into portal to see how many others in his position and level are there and their success in getting potential landing spots. I see a bit of wait and see before the dust settles.

If this was 15-20 years ago, I could see JB making real adjustments to try to regain the program’s footing, and the old JB probably would have already made them several years ago. First, you step up your NIL game and recruiting pitch big-time and start softening your stance on considerations and promises that need to be made to secure the top recruits. Second, regularly mix up your defenses, playing both zone and man-to-man and even pressing at times. Third, hire a ringer assistant coach (a la Troy Weaver) with deep AAU ties to help step up your recruiting game. Fourth, use the portal to its full advantage to improve your roster and use advanced analytics to help you find players. Fifth, try to be a more player friendly coach. Stop exploding at guys on the sideline like an unhinged maniac or at least stop snarkily calling them out in press conferences. It’s a terrible look in this day and age and is used against us. Lol, this last one is a near impossibility considering JB’s hardened, old-school personality.

The narrative around the program and especially recruiting must change, and this would be some of the ways to do it. But it’s so late in the day for JB to be able make the necessary changes at 77 years old, with only a few years left of coaching.
In that case, I don’t know, be patient and wait a few years.

He said it was his best coaching his sons lol.

People got their heads up their own … and are so anti-JB they can’t see straight
Let me guess…You’re in the 18-34 demographic?

Losing Mintz to DePaul says a lot about our current situation. There‘s no denying this would be an embarrassing loss for this program.
DePaul is a train wreck. So likely the most embarrassing.
