Furphy sounds like a nonsense word made up to describe somebody. Is he the brother of the Furphy that went to Kansas?

It's like somebody dumping Irish prisoners on Australia had terrible handwriting on the immigration form and "Murphy" became "Furphy."Furphy sounds like a nonsense word made up to describe somebody.
Billy Keys was from Bristol, Pa. Saw him play many times. He was a man child in the PIAA Class B division of the Pennsylvania HS sports classification. Rick Harmon, Loved that dude"s game. South Jersey, Cape May legend. I believe he was the Cuse's first Parade All American! He was a big recruit for Boeheim. Bobby knight wanted him and saw his as a Quinn Buckner Type. So sorry it didn't work out for him at the Cuse. I think Coach B. played him out of position. He was 6-4, with ball skills, but played forward for us. Transferred to Old Dominion...and blew out his knee and was done!!He was a piece of work. His game was a little wild but with some flash. He didn’t last long at SU. I wonder where he is today. Billy Keys and the Harmon kid out of NJ are a couple of others that never panned out.
I'm 90% sure I've referred to someone as a "furphy bastard" before.Furphy sounds like a nonsense word made up to describe somebody.
Sometimes you can be such a Furphy. Or...Furphy sounds like a nonsense word made up to describe somebody.
I don’t think anyone said our guy isn’t talented. In fact, I am very excited, based on what I have seen). (Give me all the Aussie/Euro guys we can get).
It will be nice to have a fundamental, (seeming) high IQ, player
Doesn't his picture tell you that? You left out “lunch pail, gym rat…”
This kid is a pro...literally. He is playing in the NBL, billed as Australia's premier basketball league.
I don't know much about the NBL except what I just read on wikipedia. 28 game season plus playoffs. I think he is a developmental player, but what a great way to develop. Leading scorer in the league (on Luke's team) is former Duke star Matt Hurt. Derrick Walton Jr (formerly of Michigan and LA Clippers) is also on his team. If you take a look at some of the leaders in the league you will see quite a few familiar names from NCAA and NBA.
I have gambled on the NBK Finals it's a good leagueThis kid is a pro...literally. He is playing in the NBL, billed as Australia's premier basketball league.

Just odd that they’re rating furphy but not fennel. Obviously they’re watching the team, seems like even some token analysis of the guy would be due from the scouts. And in interviews, he talks about how good it is to have to guard Walton in practice every day, since he is a stud in that league and a former NBA player.
Here's the bottom line. This kid has won two U18 gold medals for the U18 Australian national team. He's played both in international competition and in the NBL against older, more experienced players [much like our Serbian big man], so his readiness will probably be accelerated.
No idea what his ultimate upside will be, or whether he eventually lands as a full time PG or not, but Fennell is a quality "get."
Get the Furph out of here. ‘Furphy’ is slang in Australia for basically exactly what you wrote and what I thought when I first saw the name Furphy and thought “that can’t be real”Furphy sounds like a nonsense word made up to describe somebody.
It will go up again with Kiyan. Not surprised about Luke getting to four stars, and he should get there from other recruiting services, too. But, for context: SU's 2025 class, while No. 16 via 247Sports, is No. 25 from Rivals and No. 57 from On3.
D-mn straight. It will go up again with Kiyan.

Well, by all means lets call it #57Not surprised about Luke getting to four stars, and he should get there from other recruiting services, too. But, for context: SU's 2025 class, while No. 16 via 247Sports, is No. 25 from Rivals and No. 57 from On3.
I know that recruiting rankings are subjective, but I'll never for the life of me understand such big disparities like this: No. 16 versus No. 57 - that's a big difference.Well, by all means lets call it #57
For some reference, Fennel is rated 124 by 247 sports. Justin Taylor was 54 when he committed to SU. They don’t mean a lot. Let’s see what happens when he gets on campus. I hope he plays like a top 10 kid.But I was told Fennell was just a 3 star by hoopsupstate.
That is technically true, but like everything else, there are loopholes. Remember Jesse Edward’s had a bidding war.Since he's foreign, i thought I read that he is not eligible for NIL. If so, we are getting a top 50ish player with out spending any NIL funding. If that is the case, he is a home run as far as I am concerned
