Class of 2025 PG Luke Fennell (Australia) COMMITTED & SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (10/23/24)

Chris Mullen, anyone?
He does a lot of things well in this tape. Plays with good pace. Head is always up. Can drive left or right. When he ball fakes he usually goes left. Quick hands and he does slide his feet on defense. Good size with a great shooting touch. He shoot’s a soft shot. Not mechanical at all. We have some shooters coming into the program along with Choppa. If Bell comes back next year that team will really shoot it.

C'mon kid, bbtm

That just highlights the same issue: How is the 26th player in the country a 4 star and the 124th player in the country also a 4 star? That is a wide gap. How many stars is the 125th player? Seems to me, the top 100 players are 4 and 5 stars, with the super elite being 5 stars. There is no scientific formula here...bottom line is that it is all arbitrary anyway!
Star ratings are just stupid.

It doesn't matter, as long as they come to SU and show out. Less recognition and less pressure might lead to motivation to prove how good they are. Look at Choppa - he looks like a player who should have been ranked, perhaps 50 to 100 and was nowhere in sight on the various rankings.
No. Choppa was the 58th ranked player on 247’s own internal ranking. 99th in the composite ranking.

I am of the opinion that the alcoholism helped. He just had to hit one of the targets when he was shooting, it must have been much easier.
I can't imagine what a lot of these successful players would've done in sports without drugs or alcohol. Mickey Mantle is what I would've loved to see.

Top 50 kid if he was from North America.
He's playing very well for the national team. I don't think there's a doubt he'd be top50 if he was playing in the US. The fact that Red was able to find and recruit a player like Fennell, and on a lesser scale Majstorovic, gives me hope our talent level will be at the top end of the ACC if he's given a few more years.

I'd rather win games than keeping losing but with better talent.

i think fennell will be a good starter in year 2 but counting on him to start seems like a mistake
True, lots of pressure on young point guards here hasn’t had a lot of success except for Flynn and Ennis (that I can think of off the top of my dumb head) who were both highly nationally rated true point guards. We definitely need another decent pg regardless who starts.

Billy led us to a championship along with Gerry. A great combination that year. Had Mark Konecny never been recruited and got involved with Billy, those years might have been better then just 1 championship.
