I don't think anyone thinks going to UK is a dumb decision for him, I think we are just upset we lost him

You replied to my post, but please recognize that I'm not criticizing any decision quade may be making. I'm just discussing the alleged problems in recruiting, in general. In the recent past, ive said the same things you're saying — that here are valid reasons for bunches of top 20 kids choosing Kentucky. I just want to know that it's those reasons, and not the ones being asserted upthread. It's only in this thread that I've seen the very specific reports that DC was given certain assurances, and while that's still a second/third-hand bit of hearsay, it makes all of it just as midge more credible.

I agree with you. But to suggest sinister motives of tampering, bags of cash, et al. is just silly. There are plenty of legitimate motives for him to go to UK...

Have you looked at any mocks? DX has him as their #4 PG right now I believe. Markelle Fultz is almost certainly the #1 PG.

Edit: I'm with you on the other stuff, but Fox just isn't seen that way.

Yeah, no I haven't... Just trying to make the point that Quade watching that game in person at MSG, could have swayed his decision at the last minute because he could picture himself in Fox's shoes next season...

I agree. I think because the insiders here are saying before Tuesday at MSG, he was 100% 'Cuse, then he watched 1 UK game with WWW in the stands and all of sudden he flipped? Let's remember we've been on Quade for 2 years and UK has been on him for 6 months.

Maybe you're right, maybe he saw Fox/Monk and saw the bright lights of MSG and it clicked for him that UK is the place. That could very well be it. I just think it smells fishy to some people, and rightfully so.

Hard to imagine a 6'1 PG with average athleticism going in the top 5, that's just not how the NBA is anymore.

Possibly, but the idea that he was 100% cuse for a long time isn't true. If he was, he would have pulled the trigger. He didn't do that. So at the least he was leaning cuse, but he certainly wasn't sold. And heck, kids change their minds. I've some people here talking about missing on him and failing, etc. Let's face it, it isn't like they forgot to set the parking brake and the car rolled down a hill. QG has free will. He might change his mind 12 times. It isn't because somebody didn't work hard enough or omitted some obvious step or something
 
Also, did anybody listen to the Arrigale interview? He tipped the pick there, but I must have missed any discussion of it because I didn't see people talking about it.

If / when more about what happened with Quade's recruitment at the end comes out, it will be difficult for people to bury their heads in the sand.

Wish you wouldn't characterize it that way. If you're fortunate to have direct sources for this type of information, cool for you. But, heckfire, man, not everyone is in that situation or is inclined to get that involved for the sake of earlier Intel. I mean, hell. I'm 3000 miles away, and 16 years past knowing anyone still on The Hill. Head in the sand sorta implies intentional ignorance.

The fact that they were playing a meaningful game at MSG while we were playing a cupcake... that didn't help our cause. And yes, I realize our regular season schedule is going to be better than Theirs. But he's deciding Now.

Do you think the fact that uk's arena is named after a notorious racist who the fan base unapologetically adores has any impact on recruiting?
 
This is funny to read for sure. There are things that people are thinking that are factor's that I would have never in a million years guessed would be used.

Regardless of his decision I hope as a board we keep it classy and let the kids choice be what it is. Whomever had incorrect intel does not get blasted. Bottom line is history of being right will show it's self as well as THINGS can always change. These kids are pulled all over the place.
 
Do you think the Neumann Gorretti coach helped Quade with the decision? You have to think that Syracuse is pretty highly regarded.

I might be off - but I think Zelda was referring to the fact that the last game he saw before he made a decision was Colgate as opposed to vs. MSU in the Garden. He kinda got to see all UK can be and deliever. If he saw us in the Dome vs. Duke infront of 35K this week, who knows if that would have left a bigger impact on him
