I’m very excited about the signing. The kid wanted Cuse in the worst way, unlike Kadary who came here almost as an afterthought when other options disappeared. More importantly this is the kind of kid who will continue to get better and should be here for multiple years. I also think that he may have a higher ceiling than people realize and playing with better players and against greater competition at IMG should help him reach his potential and be ready for college.

You have to give the staff and Gerry in particular credit for discovering this kid early in the process. These guys know how to find talent. That head-start clearly paid off in this case.

Epic fail with respect to that Kadary analogy.

I do think Quadir has a stronger bond and connection with staff vs what Kadary had but some of that is because of the time we recruited him hard. As for wanting Cuse that is not correct. Clearly Kadary wanted Cuse very much so as well. Then things just didn't work out. But to say Quadir wanted SU more is complete speculation and in all honesty doesn't align with what Kadary said back when he committed.

I respectfully disagree. If you go back and look at his recruitment we really were not that involved until Jackson went to Yukon and Kadary was looking for a home. On the flip-side Copeland has been all in from jump. Can’t wait to see him play here.

Um, I think you’re very confused about Kadary’s recruitment. Cuse was not an afterthought for HIM. We were his dream school since early in his high school career. He’s talked about this many times. That’s why he jumped to commit to Cuse not long after he received the offer (before he had even visited!). Our staff were the ones who dragged their feet in offering him because we assumed that we’d be getting Andre Jackson (and so did most recruiting gurus) until Hurley swooped in and put on the full court press. Kadary wanted Cuse for a long time but we never offered him until early fall of 2019.

How long we were involved wasn't the discussion it was how much he wanted Cuse which was far more than you are saying.

Quadir was just on IG Live and just enjoying the moment at home chopping it up about Boeheim and the Cuse. He is all Orange. Telling everyone how great it's going to be playing for a HOF Coach.. and that he doesn't lose.

Someone asked him where he would've gone had he not selected Syracuse. He said definitely OSU (Oklahoma State)... Big Guard U as he said. But he is so excited to be committed to SU!

Come on man... Let's just enjoy the kids commit without shading anybody else. I agree with all of your other comments!

If he’s coachable, which it sounds like he is, he will only drive JB a little crazy. He should excite the crowd with the way he plays. His passing can be electric. The between the leg ally opp passes might drive JB a little over the edge.
When did we become so anti-fun. Show me a competitive game in a HS, with the game in doubt, where he did something crazy (like maybe hiking the ball between his legs.)
You are probably the guy who tried to take charges in pick up games.

I think you are right, but I have to admit, that play turned me off a bit, at the time. And, I was vocal about it. I just thought he may cause JB headaches. But, after seeing the interviews, I think I was a bit too judgemental. I have always loved Copeland, he is just a rare combination of size and skills. And, I think his jumper looks pretty decent. I think that will become a strength. He is going to give us a megashot of swag, and we need it.

I'm really happy about this commit. High caliber talent and seems like a good kid.

Would really like to see his commitment video, but unfortunately it is not available in my Country

I think I will enjoy watching this player. Kind of looks like the type who makes players look good if they move w/o the ball. Hope we can land a running mate and a big rim runner to play with him. Dreaming about the return of the high flying alley-oop days. Who will be our next Stevie Thompson catching his lob passes?

Quadir’s commitment gives us the floor General we needed!
