Players Entering the 2022 NBA Draft

I miss the days when Syracuse fans freaked out because one of our guys was leaving early to be a first round pick, after a 30 win season or something.
Who was our last pick? Lydon? Seems like it’s been forever.

An unexpected by product of NIL has been that it’s keeping players in college ball longer. Yes, the rosters are shifting & changing with the portal & NIL available, but I was not expecting fringe players who have left in the past for the draft to now stick in school. It makes sense, there’s now financial incentive to do so… but it could have impact I wasn’t factoring when these things were first implemented.

No one was going to make him an NBA draft pick. Classic tweeter. Hope he’s happier at Oregon than he was at Syracuse.
Tyus and Oshae weren’t NBA draft picks either (although Oshae obviously did end up finding his niche’), but both still went pro early. I could have seen Quincy still leaving for a pro career had he stayed here (especially since his numbers were better here in 2021 and would have probably been even better here last year).

But he got to take as many threes as he wanted. Yay!
Hope it at least gives us some ammo the next time a starter is thinking about transferring.

If you’re a pretty good player and a starter at Syracuse - you’re going to play more and get the ball more than you will pretty much anywhere else. If you’re trying to put up numbers and get opportunities, transferring is probably not the move.
