We play 5 of these teams with our ‘weak’ schedule.

Illinois 101, Boise St. 77, Texas A&M 68, Syracuse 63, Memphis 38, Washington 27, Iowa 24, Kansas 22, Vanderbilt 18, South Carolina 10, Liberty 9, Wisconsin 9, UNLV 7, North Carolina 7, California 3, BYU 2, UCF 1, TCU 1.

The only ranking that matters is the CFP ranking on the Sunday after conference championships. If we’re on that and hopefully in the top 12, we know that we didn’t have our regularly scheduled November collapse.

Northern Illinois is 25? That’s absurd. If it was a P5 team they’d be top 15

Yes but also it matters for perception to be ranked.
I get that, but right now atleast the perception is that those who put together these early season rankings have no idea who the actual top 25 teams are. Having said that, it’s very possible that we are ranked for the Stanford game having not played next week.

Perception by us maybe but not the casual fan who barely watches an entire game of their supposed favorite team. Or the SEC and B10 fans who benefit from the b.s. rankings and who make up a large % of all CFB fans.

At least they did not have Memphis and Washington in. Those 2+ Arizona have played no one and have not distinguished themselves. Also Oklahoma State and Kansas State move up despite both teams being gifted wins from teams not much better than Ohio. Also if Oklahoma did not start the year ranked, They probably would be getting enough votes to be 35th or so
