Lol this is an amazing thread for the wrong reasons.
I wouldn’t assume that.I wish Ben McCollum was someone we could target he would be best option be he isn't leaving the midwest.
I've always been cold on Little Ricky, but considering the depths our program has fallen, he is moving up the thermometer.Fired at Minnesota by our friend Mark Coyle. Hired by New Mexico a day later.
This is tame compared to the “great Dan Mullen countdown of 2023” over on the football side. I have seen no flight or enterprise rental trackers. Yet.Dumb question: Other than a board desires, are there any "rumors" of actual interest in Hodgson? Sorry if I missed it.
Don't think so, except he checks off a ton of boxes:Dumb question: Other than a board desires, are there any "rumors" of actual interest in Hodgson? Sorry if I missed it.
He had more success at Minnesota than any coach there has had since, including Big Ten Coach of the Year.Fired at Minnesota by our friend Mark Coyle. Hired by New Mexico a day later.
Don't think so, except he checks off a ton of boxes:
1) From Upstate NY
6) Prior history with Cuse as a Camp Counselor (allegedly)
Million dollar buyouts are pretty cheap now. I think it is standard now for every coach to have some sort of a buyout.
There were a lot of threads in 2015 about Dino and the board was pretty into how BGSU was doing. SO there is precedent.Dumb question: Other than a board desires, are there any "rumors" of actual interest in Hodgson? Sorry if I missed it.
You said it better than I did. Previous success in P5. I'd be looking at up and comers in the SEC and B1G.Criteria.
Has to have had previous success.
Has to have strong connections to our recruiting base
Needs to be a good recruiter see above
Needs to be able to connect to donors
Has to be Detailed, Accountable, Reliable, Trustworthy
I was probably a bit harsh with one of my responses to you regarding this and I'm not in love with Hodgson. But I do think mid-major coaches do merit at least consideration, even if they don't go undefeated. But they definitely do need to show significant success. The love affair with Hodgson is crazy to me. I laid it out in other threads too, so I won’t repeat myself anymore

We have a perception as a non-serious program right now as we should. The hire better have some national attention. Fran does not work as a hire for instance unless he has the brand of being the best recruiter in the country.
Whoever we hire better be at the top of his game in some aspect. I'm not sure that's Hodgson.
So Fran is going to coach hoops too?Criteria.

Very interesting points. Out of curiosity, what coaches do you think would fit this description? Someone like a McDermott from Creighton? If Syracuse is serious about potentially winning another national title we spend the money needed to get the right coach.
IMHO the right coach is currently a Big 5 head coach that wants to upgrade to a program that traditionally has been one of the top programs in the country like Syracuse.
There are many programs that are seem great to fans (USC, UCLA, Alabama, etc.) but their head coaches would know if there are any issues that they feel limit their success. These coaches may think they would have a better chance at the Final Four and championships at Syracuse (if we can promise proper NIL too).
There will be experienced, big school, head coaches that Syracuse should be checking in with to see how happy they really are whenever we move on from Red.
We don't need to only consider small school coaches on their way up that 'hopefully' would be great at a program like Syracuse but don't have any experience beating the top programs.
What happened to Chris Mack at Louisville? I would like to know what happened after COVID? He just came back to coaching this year at Charleston after a couple of years off. Had success at Xavier and Louisville and currently has Charleston at 20-7 record. I would be interested in interviewing him
