Possible next head coach on ESPN+ at 8 pm

He’d be the hardwood version of Fran Brown. I can’t think of another coach that brings the same level of competitiveness within our price range

Depends on range...

Hodgson is being eyed by a number of D1 schools considering coaching changes.

It's not like we wouldn't have serious competition for him.

Don't think so, except he checks off a ton of boxes:

1) From Upstate NY
2) Young
3) Worked under winning coach/program
4) Successful so far as head coach
5) Acknowledged as a great recruiter
6) Prior history with Cuse as a Camp Counselor (allegedly)

7) Will be hired by a major P4 program at the end of this season while we run it back with Red.

I mean it's great to have hopes and dreams, but there's also reality...

He’s a great coach, but we can’t afford him
At this point, a credible high visibility coach is more valuable than any recruit. There should not be a coach who fits the bill who we deem as too expensive. McDermott first then the recruits will follow.

But let’s remember IF Red was fired you have the rest of his buyout, plus this guys, and very possibly the final year of buyout for Dino.

Theoretically SU might be paying 2 coaches to NOT coach for them?

I’m doubtful
I think 2024 was the last year on the Babers contract. I think he's now off the books.

Don’t get your hopes up. Posted this in another thread, but Hodgson just signed an extension. Here are the updated buyouts.

Contract Year 1 – 4/1/2025 to 3/31/2026 – $1,000,000

Contract Year 2 – 4/1/2026 to 3/31/2027 – $750,000

Contract Year 3 – 4/1/2027 to 3/31/2028 – $500,000

Contract Year 4 – 4/1/2028 to 3/31/2029 – $250,000

Think Syracuse would pony up a million bucks to buy him out this offseason and pay Red his contract? Yeah, right.

Even the $750,000 plus whatever we owe Red after getting a 3rd year is improbable.

They are losing WAY more money than that from attendance falling by 2/3.

What happened to Chris Mack at Louisville? I would like to know what happened after COVID? He just came back to coaching this year at Charleston after a couple of years off. Had success at Xavier and Louisville and currently has Charleston at 20-7 record. I would be interested in interviewing him
I posted about Mack in another thread last month. He could be a good option with legit head coaching success in the Big East and ACC. He was Pat Kelsey’s mentor. He always struck me as kind of douchey but if he can win, who cares.
